I'm just sharing some things I've heard, Lapis_29.
A lot of what we hear in the news is propaganda. Quin gives an example above as to how things can be manipulated.
If we were to go back and listen to everything Dr. Fauci said about
the pandemic, we would not think him very competent. Was he right when he said CV-19 was comparable to a severe flu or was he wrong? Was he right when he said masks for healthy people would not help in any significant way or was he wrong? Was he right when he said CV-19 was not a significant threat to US or was he wrong? He also said, "The driver of respiratory outbreaks is symptomatic people, not asymptomatic carriers".
""This is not a major threat for the people in the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about
," Fauci said." See link below.

65 Morocco, Senegal, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Gabon, and France (with teams working in Africa),
66 all involved in the COVID 19 pandemic in Africa, have attempt to submit a letter to Science in
67 reply to the article of Mbow et al. (1), to comment their article and discuss the potential role of the
68 large use of chloroquine derivative with or without azithromycin in many African countries,
69 including ours. The paper was rejected the day after submission. We are unsure if the rejection
70 was as stated because its “ scope and focus make it more appropriate for a more specialized
71 journal”, or in relation with the political position of Science (19-23), any conflict of interest of the
72 journal editors, or any other reason. However, we think that to understand and comment the
73 situation in Africa, it deserves credit to hear African scientists and doctors."
In other news, CV "cases" are spiking in Europe. UK is cracking down on gatherings severely (no groups over 6 people allowed). Denmark and Norway both have surpassed Sweden in number of new CV "cases".
potsnpans, yes, we are repeating ourselves a lot. I'm just not sure how legitimate it is to include people in case count who barely have any virus and are not contagious. Recently learned that a "case" is different from an "infection". I'm quite sure that we've never tracked a virus with pcr like we are doing now. Reporting "cases" based on pcr like we've been doing would certainly send people the wrong message and encourage fear and mitigation actions when not legitimized.
