Im dealing with extreme Candidiasis and need advice - in 2015 i went through about 200 rounds of ciprofloxacin and about 750 rounds of Bactrim DS(double strength) ( to treat a prostate infection) . The infection would stop for a few weeks and then appear after i stopped the antibiotics .
about a year after starting the antibiotics I was in the kitchen one evening and I felt something rip in the lower right side of the abdomen . The next morning the area felt damp and over the next few days the dampness spread up my abdomen and into the chest area. At the same time when I went to the bathroom id urinate what looked like foam it was frothy foaming urine. I went for tests at the hospital for CAT scan and saw a kidney specialist and the one thing they were concerned about was that my iodine levels had dropped dramatically , To cut a long s short over the next few weeks my health begun to deteriorate i lost about 40lbs , had severe digestive issues, developed a black rash over my torso and back areas and also developed internal lumps on the side of my body where my liver and kidney were - i also had a very large lump in the middle of my chest which was painful to touch . My teeth also started failing and i had two root canals which had to be removed as a white film substance was growing around them - In between all this i started getting random electrical zaps in my head and started getting severe floaters in the eye . These were long hair like strands which were appearing out of nowhere - I later found out that the antibiotic had killed off so much good bacteria that a fungi called candida had punched holes into the colon/stomach lining and entered the blood stream and was colonizing organs and parts of my body which explained the tumors on the side of the body and also in the chest. I was being eaten alive

Hi, Aalfredo. I'm sorry that you have been dealing with such extreme and miserable Candida overgrowth. A lot of us here deal with that, but not normally to the degree that you are dealing with it. Do you have questions for us?

If I'm reading your post right, then it's been a few years since this began for you. How have things been since? Which sorts of things have you tried for treating Candida overgrowth? Many folks on this forum use anti-fungal herbs and drugs, probiotics, and strict diets to combat Candida. I'd be happy to share more specific ideas once I have a better idea what you have tried and what your'e currently struggling with.

Also, this is posted in the Lyme disease forum. Do you have Lyme disease?

Wow, that would sound like a pretty dramatic case of invasive Candida... sorry you have been through all of that.

How did you get diagnosed/figure out it was Candida? If you have a "traditional" doctor who diagnosed you, you're in luck, I believe they take it seriously when they believe it's invasive Candida (but it seems most doctors don't usually believe it unless the signs are glaringly obvious/externally visible). If you don't have a mainstream doc to work with you may want to find an alternative/holistic practitioner. A doctor may prescribe a course of antifungals that goes for many months.

If you can't find a practitioner you can work with, you could look into antifungal/anti-Candida herbs/supplements, there is a ton of info out there online.

In either case, you probably want to avoid all foods/drinks that provide Candida with easy food/sustainment: sweets/anything with sugar, simple carbs (all breads, crackers, pasta, breakfast cereals, etc. including things that seem like they should be better like "whole wheat" and "gluten free", they still feed Candida too easily), etc. Alcohol is generally a no-go as well. There is lots of info out there on the Candida diet and while people don't always agree on the details, the big picture is generally the same.

Standard disclaimer, this is not medical advice just my opinion based on what I've been through and my own research. I have been steadily chipping away at what I believe to be a serious case of Candida/fungal overgrowth for the past several years using diet and herbs/supplements. Allicin (stabilized garlic extract) pills helped me expel what appeared to be a great deal of fungal matter from my intestines which was a turning point overall to feeling like I'm getting the upper hand on this thing.

Well I never have been diagonsed by a doctor officially, haha. This is 100% self diagnosis and trial and error. And truth be told, I would have no way of knowing if it is truly "Candida" in the strict sense or any other fungal strain.

The issue I have with yeast/fungus significantly pre-dates my Lyme infection in 2017, probably back to childhood. But I've pieced it together based a variety of signs/symptoms including a history of taking antibiotics as a child, taking acid blockers from a young age (low stomach acid was linked to "florid yeast overgrowth" in one scientific paper I read), being a sugar/carb addict, and then suffering from a whole range of Candida signs and symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, mood swings. I also have had periods of a yeasty-tasting overgrowth in my mouth and a history of difficult to eradicate skin fungal infections in places like armpit, groin etc. Despite all of these symptoms, I basically functioned more or less as a normal person until I got Lyme and everything fell apart. It was only in retrospect that I pieced together the Candida (or other yeast/fungus) issue.

Can you elaborate? You actually saw it? In your stool?

Also any view on SF722? I’ve been worried about candida for a while as I have SIBO but Rifaximin didn’t fully reduce symptoms and I’ve been worried about SIFO...have some 722 here, supposed to be good stuff. Maybe I’ll start it and see if I feel anything. Will I herx if I have candida? This is the stuff they put in a lot of topical drugstore fungal creams, so I assume it works and the oral gets good reviews


Note: I experimented w done GSE the other day and my neuropathy exploded through the roof. 1 pill and I was on the floor in tears. I’ve never had a reaction to abx (bicillin, clarithromycin+HCQ, doxy, rifaximin - although the last one improved stomach function considerably, but no herx). Could this mean the GSE was hitting a fungus and not bacteria?

The hospital thought it was "aspergillosis" as i had fluid in the lungs but they did not diagnose candida because they said it shows up in the blood stream and is challenging to diagnose. To be honest the hospital had no clue , I went there for two years and came very close to death (water and food) was entering the chest cavitie if i ate or dranlk anything and I was very ill and feverish if i ate or drank anything. An Endodontist who was removing my root canal teeth figured it out - the inside of my mouth had turned white and he recognized this as an autoimmune disorder - he
recognized the symptoms and told me the long course of antibiotics had killed off most of the good gut bacteria and my body was now attacking itself in an extreme manner .

when i got to the stage where i could no longer eat or drink without breaking into a fever and getting the worst head pain id ever image that was the really scary pain . Even a teaspoon of water would give me racking pain in the head and it felt like my head was going to explode and that the water was going straight into my head.
I figured that was it and be gone by the end of the week and went out for a walk - it was raining (but my vision was so bad i couldnt see where i was walking so I came back home and I stayed off food and water for 3 days .
At the end of the second day i could drink half a cup of water but no food and at the end of the third day i could drink a bottle of water . On the third day i switched to a 30day water fast. The first few days of the fast were hell as the candida become a lot worse but around day 15 my stomach could tolerate masticated fruit juices and the bad symtoms stopped . Later on i expanded the water fast to a 120 day water/fruit juice fast and this made the biggest difference as the tumors on the sides of the body shrank. For the tumor in the chest while researching I read about some guy called Dr Brownstein and another called DR Siccus who mentioned iodine removes tumors - I bought a nebulizer and nebulized lugols iodine starting at one drop till I could do 40 to 80 drops and in about 2 months the tumor in the middle of the chest disappeared . ,

The thing that I have the most luck with diet-wise currently is avoiding breads and diary products especially milk - i take SF722 (10 at time ) and caprylic acid and have tried . coconuit oil, baking soda/ molasses .sodium butyrate, borax, turpentine, high dose vit c , Grape seed extract( yuk) ,molybdenum, tumeric,pycongenol and a few other 100 things .
But to to date the best results i get is by taking systematic enzymes which contain (bromelan, pappn, natto,seaprose/serrapeptease ,cellulase. protease and then using essential oils ( I mix DMSO with cinnamon bark oil .clove oil . lavender , lemongrass and geranium ) i rub this on my lower abdomen and sides of the head . This works very well but theres a very strong die-off and I have to do a daily coffee enema( I dont know how else to get around this ) .
My current issue is my body appears to be recovering but if I take fluids or eat food my vision becomes extremely blurry and I see hundreds of floaters . Theres a medical term for this "uveitis" and it can be caused by an autoimmune condition- Conventional treatment consists of steroids which will also worsen the condition,
The fix i use is to fall asleep for a few hours and the condition diminishes - has anyone had to deal with this or have any recommendations of things to try ?

Ive never taken chemo or radiation my regular Dr recommended two oncologists and from day one they wanted me to start some sort of treatment to biopsy the tumors and start radiation - This was before they even knew what kind of cancer it was - I avoided them like the plague and decided to take the DIY route instead. My reasoning was if 1500 rounds of antibiotics had gotten me to this state then after Chemo I would not fare too well with compromised immunity. In the Bay area weed is legal I initially used something called "Rick Simpson oil" which is concentrated THC oil and was warned by the vendors several times that Chemo will weaken the body and impact the alternative treatments effectiveness. The THC did help however to be honest the 120 day liquid fast in my opinion brought about the most significant and dramatic improvements.

aalfredo - I have also experienced symptom flares when I eat, especially if there is a whisper of sugar/carbs in it (like beans/lentils or low-sugar fruits) but haven't found a way to get around it. I believe the author of the original "The Yeast Connection" book from the 1980's said that some patients were able to control symptom flares when eating by taking Nystatin before meals, but I haven't actually tried it as I'm not working with a doctor and Nystatin requires a prescription. Although the severity of your situation certainly sounds worse and I don't remember reading anything about symptom flares while drinking water.

dcd2103 - Yes, I started taking Allimax Allicin because I read something by Dr. Rawls where he had recommended it as an adjunct to Buhner herbs. Initially, I was doing two Allicin pills at night and was taking fresh garlic (or regular strength garlic tablets) in the morning because I couldn't handle the symptom flare from Allicin during the workday. After a week or so (or maybe less), I had very large, loose stools that included a whitish/yellow fern-like structure which I now believe was Candida in the fungal form (or another similar type of yeast/fungus). I only had the mass expulsion for a few days and then it stopped, although I would continue to see a little string of the fern-like matter occasionally for a few weeks afterward. I have since cycled on and off Allicin several times and have never gotten the same expulsion, leading me to believe it was a one-time thing and I probably dislodged most of the overgrowth in the intestinal path during that time.

I don't know anything about SF722 so I can't comment. I have heard GSE is antifungal as a well as antibacterial but I have never tried it.

So basically I am definitely going to flare if I try the Allicin and I have candida? My neuropathy will get worse? How long did your flare last?

Why not get a biopsy? They can tell easily if it’s fungal

None of my clinicians has requested it. It's arguably uncomfortable for them, and I appreciate that. My ID is taking chances treating me for protracted periods for multiple TBDs with aggressive therapies. If Candida is a byproduct, that clinician by formally testing exposes my treatment as the likely culprit. My other clinicians are intimidated by the entire Lyme and Company thing, so they are no hurry to get involved, even peripherally.

My focus has historically been treating bart and babs and Bb, but I must admit the prolonged Candida thing has my attention.

Fluconazole made me constipated so I stopped taking also. It also made by bathroom ejections dark green which made me suspect it would have an impact on my liver so i did not take anymore after my first bottle. . I had rashes on my shoulders , back ,stomach and chest they looked like tiny black birth marks. I was able to get rid of them in about 6 months by making a solution of "cinnamon bark oil, oil of oregano, clove oil ,lugols iodine, hydrogen peroxide and virgin coconut oil" and rubbing it on the rashes and they cleared up gradually. Cinnamon bark oil stings so id test a bit on the skin first to make sure you are not sensitive to it . Also oil of Oregano and cinnamon bark oil should not be used around the privates(trust me I found this out the hard way) and also avoid getting into eyes . They are also strong smelling oils and some people dont like the smell - but they work for me .

A liquid fast also cleared some of the rashes and they did not return , the only problem i found with liquid fasting is the Candida becomes a heck of a lot worse in the early stages of the fast for about a week. Id cover myself from head to toe with clove and oil of oregano as this was the only way i could stop the discomfort .

I just tried something called Fenbendazole today anyone used this ? - I hear some folks have good success with this - I'm trying 2, 1 gram Panacur packets with food as well as my regular 12 SF722 capsules , 2 Betaine HCL tabs .10 milk thistle tabs(to protect the liver) . 20 wobenzym tabs, 4 caprylic acid tabs , 8 Dr Christopher kidney savers(to protect the kidneys) and plenty of water.... after 4 hours I've not noticed anything different. Ill try it for a a few 6 more days to see if it helps.

I can't say what your experience might be but I've always had a herx/flare upon taking Allicin, no matter how far along in treatment/diet adherence I've been. It usually wears off within 24 hours or so.

Although I do wonder if some of the effect may be due to the substance itself more than any pathogen (i.e, burning or pressure sensations in sensitive tissues/mucous membranes). I've just kept circling back to it periodically due to the initial success and to hopefully stop regrowth.

Ive ordered some Allicin which should arrive by sept 30th. I found an extra strength brand on Amazon for $14 unless anyone has any better recommendations ?
I haven't noticed any strange reactions so far with my Fenbendazole experiment today and I'm going to take another packet - Each packet is 4 gram ( I thought they were only 1 gram) - ill take it with 80% standardized milk thistle , DR Christophers kidney saver and some SF722 .

the febenz is an anti helminith . i had something similar the holes were caused by giardia and it let candida /bart everywhere. unless u can safely inject sodium bicarb iv then i would do a pau de arco black walnut decoction for a while then do slippery elm aloe and marshmallow root to seal during mant months of probiotics in the billions daily with kombucha and s boullardii to seal the gut -build -kill -build again was my strategy . plasma rife was very effective in knocking back candida and protozoas. healing the gut after the abx bombs u did may take years . seal while u eat+ use systemic enzymes to clean up bloodstream. lumbrokinase helped but dont over do it i heard it'll digest u. btw the strongest allicin is zhangs can be ordered thru hepapro.com
