Candida and antibiotics

That’s interesting - because taking the antibiotics usually makes you prone to a yeasty... as it kills off the good bacteria in your intestine - which helps to keep the intestines healthy.

My first thought was that your apparent "thrush" may actually be bacterial overgrowth rather than fungal. Therefore possibly the antibiotics would reduce the bacterial overgrowth and you would rebound once off.

I don't know, just a guess. Or maybe it could be Candida plus bacteria, and the bacterial portion recedes more when you are on antibiotics. Maybe you could find a doctor willing to do a culture of it?

I think Garzie makes a good point though, lots of oral microbes are normal and do not necessarily provide information about what might be going on elsewhere.

I assumed since it’s really bad right now and I just stopped antibiotics it’s Candida. But is it rare for Candida to not respond to fluconazole or nystatin?

I did have this happen just recently. In August, I took Flagyl for 7 days for a secondary infection. After the Flagyl, I got a coated tongue and a resurgence of gut issues. My tongue was more yellow than white. Coconut oil pulling and neem tooth and gum powder got rid of the coated tongue.

I started having urgent, loose bowel movements and was expelling stringy seaweed looking stuff again. The seaweed looking stuff could have been yeast or ropeworm. I can never determine for sure which, although I did see evidence of ropes. (Sorry, TMI)

I assume Flagyl either killed off more of what little good bacteria I have or cleared some intestinal biofilm or otherwise altered my gut flora.

I should add that I have been on Nystatin and Fluconazole since July/August 2019. My diet is terrible, though.

You will know it its candida when you ingest diary products especially kiefer or milk and you get a bad reaction in your body or gut. i never had candida until i took many rounds of antibiotics around 1000 bactrim , cipro and doxy . The antibiotics will give you a temporary fix but the candida eventually wisens up and becomes resistant and you end up taking higher doses. Plus continuous rounds of antibiotics will kill off the good gut bacteria and cause the candida to become rampant and spread into the organs and throughout the body .
I read this book on Amazon "candida killing them softly" it really helped me a lot and introduced me to "lugols iodine"
Antibiotics do a lot of damage to the bodies immune system - I now have candida in the kidneys, liver and candida colonization of the colon and intestines and its making me go blind .
Antibiotics ( avoid them like the plague unless its a matter of life or death).

Has anyone had a colonoscopy and found yeast? Is it possible to see intestinal yeast with a colonoscopy?

I have this gross white fluffy stuff on the way back of my tongue and it breaks out depending on what I eat. It started during the last few weeks of 6 weeks of antibiotics. Anti-fungals have not helped - took diflucan, nystatin. Oil pulling did nothing. So maybe it is some bacteria overgrowth? I showed it to my ENT and he said he'd never seen anything like it. He thought it might be an immune reaction - just cells overproducing so he gave me a steroid mouthwash. I used it for 5 days and it make my tongue feel really prickly, almost painful, and no other change so I stopped taking it. I'm going to try to get him to do a culture of it. It must be something.....

I also have the seaweed issue wbf talks about, and I also lived in a house with mold which eventually made me sick - so I wonder how it is all connected.....

My diet is really good. I don't even eat fruit, because I think it makes my tongue worse....if the outbreak is worse, my tongue feels tingly and it leaves a gross taste in my mouth. Is this true for anyone else?

I don't have an LLMD. Can't afford it. I am treating well with Zhang herbs and have improved a lot - but still have tongue, gut, joint issues like most....

If it's systemic you'll know. You can try wormwood tea. When I drank some I went #2 and I literally saw what looked like cotton balls which were yeast being.cleamed out of body not to over share o know it sounds totally gross. I'm also very prone to yeast being a women out hormones gt out of whack especially with the lyme/bart/ebv. Wormwood may cause seizures especially if u already gt them like me I had a staring spell and lip/eye twitching seizure off the word once . .assuming it kills off other things as well. Also helped no more bloating move bowels took nausea away assuming yeast was cleared out my body felt great

I had a colonoscopy about a year and a half ago.
The Dr didn’t mention seeing any yeast.
He did see a polyp though and snared it.

How was that determined? Did you have imaging showing it on the kidneys and liver etc?
Did an optometrist determine that Candida was causing you to go blind?
