I am not the only one who is thinking this way.

It would be more convincing if her opinion was isolated from the last few paragraphs. Sounds like she thinks there's a wider conspiracy of which masks are a part of.. might be influencing her comments somehow.
When I searched the doctor's name 8 out of the top 10 search results were various websites with this same transcript
. I'll bet this is all over social media.. To me this is indicative of the larger problem regarding information about
covid-19: some opinions are getting way too much "oxygen"
.. I think this one doctor's comments are having much more of an influence than is warranted. The problem isn't censorship as some would like to believe.. not with covid-19 anyway. Transcript
(translated from German) says:
"There are nerve cells, for example in the hippocampus, that can’t be longer than three minutes without oxygen – they cannot survive"
A dip in blood oxygen would not indicate an absence of oxygen in nerve/brain tissue, right? ..and for 3 minutes?? "Fear mongering" has become a very tired accusation as of late, but it might be applicable here. She goes on talking about
effects of "oxygen deprivation" (not hypoxia) but fails to link any of it to mask wearing.. only mentions "rebreathing your own exhaled air" as an assumption (however miniscule that amount might be with a cloth/surgical mask).
Pulse oximeters are rather cheap and ubiquitous these days.. think that if cloth/surgical masks were causing oxygen levels to drop below 95% it would be obvious by now.. anecdotes would be coming from everywhere. I'm tempted to buy one so I can check myself after wandering around the grocery store.. would be surprised if there is any dip at all. Anyway, I found these studies:
"Effect of Face Masks on Gas Exchange in Healthy Persons and Patients with COPD"
http://www.atsjournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1513/annalsats.202007-812rl"Absence of consequential changes in physiological, thermal and subjective responses from wearing a surgical mask"
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22326638/Yet the doctor predicts "..in ten years, dementia is going to increase exponentially". If we are to believe masks cause oxygen deprivation leading to dementia, shouldn't former surgeons already be suffering disproportionately? ..and what about
olympic athletes who train at high altitudes? They really are depriving themselves of some amount of oxygen. Are their brains ok?
My kids are going back to school next week. They're going to have "mask breaks" throughout the day. It sure would be nice if they didn't have to wear them at all and could see each other's faces, etc.. however, I remain unconvinced that masks are at all damaging to their physical health.
