Many, many, many people get well without pharmaceuticals. Most definitely. There are effective herbal protocols, including ways to address biofilms. When people talk about Lyme treatment, it is so much more than just antimicrobial treatment. For most people, progress happens when the whole system is addressed - microbes, gut, nervous system, diet, stress, immune dysfunction, detoxification pathways, etc. A good LLMD will address all of these things. Many with Lyme have several types of dysfunction to be corrected, and it takes time.
The Buhner protocol is the most common herbal protocol, and many here have experience with it. http://buhnerhealinglyme.com/ It's a good option for most people, and would be easy to start now for you. Start slowly with low doses, and increase gradually to mitigate herx reactions.
Other herbal protocols you hear about often are Cowden, Byron White, Rawls's Vital Plan, and Beyond Balance. Lots of people recover using primarily herbs, a combination of herbs and pharma, or a few herbs plus other methods. I have not tried Rawls's Vital Plan protocol, but I find his website very helpful: rawlsmd.com
Options aside from herbs and pharma: rife, homeopathy, PEMF, infrared sauna, dietary changes, fasting, homeopathy, and many more. You have lots of options.
I definitely understand being nervous about speech symptoms. Keep in mind that most of the damage done by these infections is reversible with treatment. For now, starting some low doses of antimicrobial herbs is a decent plan. Also focus on cleaning up your diet, getting your digestion and got microbes in order, reducing stress, and getting quality sleep. Antimicrobial treatment can be rough, so it makes sense to start supporting your nervous system and gut ASAP.
