Oregano Oil (Liquid or Pill Form) Is there a difference?

I've taken both but I think my body responds better to the liquid form. Does the liquid form cross the blood brain barrier easier? I'm currently on the pill form, no side effects but I know liquids are more easily absorbed and you absorb more of liquid herbs so I'm thinking about getting back on the liquid form.

Anyone have experience and what do you recommend as far as which form of oil of oregano? Pill or liquid?

it's frustrating - the active ingredients in all forms should be the same in all forms ( not 100% sure of pill form as i expect the active ingredients are volatile so not sure how that would work) - but the manufacturers rarely seem to put the concentration or even the full ingredients list on the products so patients simply cannot tell what is in it or how much.

i think much of the reason for this is for marketing and price inflation purposes.
the packaging tends to present the product as somehow special and superior to other products - in order to justify a price point.

the pharmaceutical/supplement industries have a poor record of determining what component of herbs are the "active" ingredient - and in fact, in most cases, plants make several compounds together that act synergistically.


i think I would be inclined to take a whole natural form of oregano oil - rather than a single component or extract of it - eg like a food-grade essential oil - and mix it in a carrier oil in known proportions ( eg coconut or olive oil) so it doesn't burn when taken orally and should aid absorption.

dosing will be trial and error in any case i think - as most of us herx so badly from full doses of anything.

Just did the liquid oregano oil! Huge difference! Felt a herx and slight head pain but in a good way. I'll continue doing the liquid.

Can you tell us what brand and where you can get it from?

yeah that's basically a 4 to 1 mix of olive oil with oregano oil
they list the carvacrol dosage per 4 drops in milligrams which seems to be getting into the same range as offered by encapsulated forms
i would use that
