I know a lot of us don't have a ton of money because it all goes towards our health buuuut what are some ways you still find to treat yourself. I have been fighting to get better for over four years now. I feel like I deserve something nice....more than just my Epsom salt baths. What do you guys do to keep some sort of fun/ happiness/spontaneity in your life?

not all treatments are expensive - but the cheap ones often take a bit more effort

changing to a full paleo ketogenic diet has worked out only £10-£20 more expensive per month for me vs a more traditional western diet - but I do now feel every meal is as good as it can be for my body and my energy has improved dramatically. i find good food that you know is nourishing is a boost sensually, physically, and emotionally

focussing on sleep has helped me a lot too - a lot of that is just forming good habits = going to bed at the same time, no electronics in the bedroom, cooler bedroom, no light of any kind at night, getting daylight outside in the mornings - no computer or phone for 1hrs before bed - that kind of thing. after 2 good nights and my days are much better after 2 bad nights my days are much worse.

exercise is helping me now too - now that I am overall better able to tolerate it.

one of the things i enjoy most is walks in nature - generally as far away from traffic and other people as i can manage - its always a lift!

I go to outdoor places that make me feel better physically and mentally. There’s a park close to where I used to live. It has a lake around it and a walking trail with lots of trees around the perimeter. There’s also recreation areas. I bought myself a playground ball at the Five and Below Store and put it in my car. I played basketball, soccer, and toss with it at this park.

There are several beaches within an hour or so drive. I have been to the beach more in the last year than I had in the previous 20 years combined. The air at the beach is amazing.

During the week of Christmas, my mom and I went to a park about an hour away in a town we like to visit a lot. It was in a nice historic place. They had a huge Christmas tree in the park. We saw Santa come to visit with the kids.

I also discovered I like to drive around roaming, like my dad😊. Sometimes on a whim, I will drive around areas I haven’t seen before and explore.

One important thing is learning about gut health on your own and eating healthy, No fast food or fancy sugar carb loaded five dollar coffees or grocery store food that comes in boxes.

Since the this send the endocrine system into a whirlwind, I’d also get a at home A1 C test from Walmart or Walgreens and maybe try to find a discount thyroid lab panel online which works with a local place that they list who can draw your blood. Low thyroid Symptoms I’d say a good 80% are the same as Lyme symptoms. How many are treating Lyme while ignoring thyroid ? more than we want to know

A fun treat depends on your hobbies and what you enjoy. I treat myself with yarn for knitting. I also treat myself with udemy courses. They always go on sale and you can learn pretty much anything for like $10-$15, they go on sale all the time so do not pay full price! I’ve been learning 3D modeling and design with udemy. My kids have taken music composition, music theory, mixing, coding, pixel art, stop motion, drawing, digital drawing, etc.
I am getting back in to fermenting foods and drinks and splurged on some tools to make fermenting veggies easier. My son bought me a kombucha starter kit for Christmas too. I’m really looking forward to getting back in to good gut health improving foods and drinks. I’ve already fermented an amazing sauerkraut, carrots, and working on bell peppers.

I agree it's important with Lyme not to forget to buy small (or even tiny) things to treat yourself every now and then. A few months ago I bought a nice pair of earbuds to listen to music. I'm still enjoy them every single day. They weren't even expensive and they are the among the best ones I've had.

I get plants from the discount racks at Lowes and other big box stores. It becomes very therapeutic to take care of them and they give so much back.

I have turned into a plant fanatic. I used to kill everything I touched, but since moving to this place 2 years ago, I have been buying plants. I am watering them every morning and finally got some Miracle Grow fertilizer for them. I even got potting soil and transplanted some little tiny potted plants together into a larger pot a couple of weeks ago. I had never planted anything before. I can’t believe they’re still alive!! I am pining away right now for a purslane. Kroger has them in hanging baskets. I don’t think I had ever seen or heard of them before.
