Hey! Been awhile - pregnant and Syphilis Question

I’m almost 12 weeks pregnant !
Most of my blood tests came back normal. I had a false positive for syphilis. Doctor said it’s common with autoimmune conditions and wants to test me further, especially dor Lupus.

That said - Lyme bacteria LOOKS like syphilis under a microscope. So I’m wondering if that’s it ? This was a blood test so I don’t know how the test is run. The doctor already knows I have Lyme and I’m still on abx treating while pregnant.

Any thoughts ? Has this happened to anyone else ?

First - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Questions:
1. Was the blood test a pcr - where they test for the dna of the bacteria..?
2. If it was not a pcr, but an antibody test....then they wouldn't see that it was a spirochete.

I don’t fully know. I have to move to a more high risk OB anyway so I’ll get all my records. They are testing me for a blood clotting disorder and Lupus as well.

Band 41 is a spirochete. Syphilis is a spirochete. You have to check to see what other syphilis tests they did. They would have had to do other tests to confirm that diagnosis.

That makes sense. The doctor also said she knows it’s a false positive test
