Hey guys,


I recently got off of antibiotics for Bartonella and will be transitioning to herbal antimicrobials. My doctor is recommending liposomal oregano oil and Allicin (garlic). Does anyone have any recommendations for herbal antimicrobials fro Bartonella? If yes, does anyone recommend brands? And, does anyone have brand recommendations for liposomal oregano oil and Allicin?

I believe oregano oil and allicin is used to treat sibo not sure if it treats bart. I had the same question about which herbs are really best. I take japanese knotweed houttunyia and sida acuta. The sida is extremely strong .as soon as I started the sida my terrible crippling migraines and neck pain from the bart stopped almost instantly and was replaced with a burning sensation like nueropathy. It was a relief though and felt as if it was killing off bart and healing if that makes sense.

I also take milk thistle, NAC, liposomal glutathione and am going to start taking selenium today as I was told to take.

Has anyone tried cocktail from biopure? It's liposomal oregano and I was wondering if capsules or oil worked better. I had bought oregano oil that said essential oil on it for external use only which I read too late lol took 1 drop and almost near choked it was beyond spicy intolerable.

I've never tried Biopure cocktail. A lot of their products look quality. You may get slightly better absorption with the dropper bc you can do it sublingually. I would probably use both liposomal oregano capsules and Biopure cocktail if I was focusing on herbal options.

I recently found this product. It's a liposomal mixture of many of the essential oils found to be effective at killing bartonella and lyme in vitro. Seems like it could be a good herbal/non-pharma option. I have not tried it tho.....

the traditional Buhner herbs for Bart are as Girlie posted

buhner later posted that he like Salvia Militorrhiza for any chronic bacterial infection - and it is protective of the endothelial cells ( barts main target ) so you could add that one.

chinese Skullcap is also in Buhners Bart protocol i think - good for CNS inflammation

then there are the newer herbs and essential oils that were tested and found very effective at killing Bart persisters in in-vitro studies in just the last few years - John Hopkins or Northwestern / Zhang i think.

it is based on this research that oregano oil is being used - as this was the most powerful of the essential oils against bart persisters in those tests

some lyme MD's like Marty Ross are recommending liposomal forms for enhancing absorption

I really like Woodland Essence products. Right now I use Houttuynia and Sida Acuta of theirs.

Does the oregano oil have to be liposomal? I just take the regular kind .

For how long is it safe to ingest oil of oregano? This stuff is strong it nearly burned a hole into my skin the other day while applying it topically.
When I swallow 5 drops of it in a capsule with some olive oil it doesn't burn too much but it feels like the capsule gets stuck somewhere in my chest and then a few minutes later I usually burp up some oregano aromas.
How are we supposed to pulse this stuff? It says maximum 5 drops per day on the bottle.
So far I've been doing a Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday schedule and then STOP!

in his article here he describes its use in treating Bart as part of a wider protocol

Serving Size: 2 Capsules
Ingredients: Oil of Oregano from Origanum Minutiflorum 150mg Extract ( per serving = 2 capsules so 75mg per capsule)

in non-liposomal form, i would guess doses would need to be 2-10x higher ( just a guess)

but dosing can be hard to work out as when i have looked into it before most liquid products on the market are not pure oregano oil - but a mixture of oregano oil and carrier oils - and rarely make clear exactly how much of the pure oil are in them - so i would urge you to look at that carefully before deciding on a dose
