I think the Vagus Nerve Stim device is causing headaches. Actually I’m pretty sure it is. Either I’m doing too much or my body not ready for it? In going to turn the voltage down and cut the time in half. I also did just realize I’ve been putting it on the right ear instead of the left as recommended

Bufflehead - I'd love to hear more about that Nemechek protocol, if you care to describe some specifics of treatment, or talk about your results.

dcd - Whenever I try an electronic device that touches my body, I end up with EMF issues, particularly headaches and brain fog. EMF normally doesn't bother me, as far as I can tell, unless I'm under massive power lines or something, but somehow health devices mess me up sometimes (infrared light pads, PEMF, etc.). I find it helpful to get some earthing in afterward - using an earthing mat if I can't get outside, or just spending some time with my feet on the ground outside. This seems to even out some of the energy in my body somewhat after those sorts of treatments. I tried this for two years with a PEMF device, and never built up any tolerance, unfortunately. The device was insanely expensive, though, so I really tried my best to make the most of it! This might not be what's going on with your vagus nerve device, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Bufflehead...sorry I missed your message when you originally posted if, just saw it.

My basic understanding is the Nemechek protocol is olive oil, rifaxamin and vagus nerve stimulation right? I’ve been doing high doses of olive oil as part of my ketogenic protocol. I’ve done rifaxamin in the past in 2019 and just got a new prescription for more so stating that soon. As mentioned a above I got tVNS device recently but it seems to be causing headaches. I haven’t done these all the same time, yet.

Are on the Nemechek protocol? If so, what exactly does it consist of? Does it help? Do you have SIBO? Very interested to hear your experience

Saraeli, thank you for this advice. Very helpful. It may be that the emf is too much for me. I will lower the voltage and duration and try again, but if it happens again may table it maybe Emf not for me

I highly recommend looking into Dr. Nemechek's work/research as I probably will not do justice with my explanation...I'll post a link below of a good starting point! From my understanding, the protocol is designed to reduce inflammation and bring the autonomic nervous system back into balance, via simultaneously correcting gut dysbiosis and reducing inflammation in the brain. These two really go hand-in-hand as your recent posts here explain. So Nemechek corrects this by correcting the omega-3/6 ratio, which for most of us is completely off... We take in many times more omega-6 fats and very little omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to an overall inflammatory state.

For adults, he first recommends a course of rifaximin to address gut dysbiosis. This is where I am straying from the protocol, as I just got off of a 2 month course of biocidin and am negative for SIBO. If I find that I am getting no results following the rest of the protocol, I may circle back to rifaximin.
The only other daily supplements include:
- 3000mg of DHA fish oil to address brain inflammation. DHA is the only type that can cross the blood/brain barrier. He recommends nordic naturals, so I am taking that.
-2 tbsp of olive oil per day either alone or substituted for other cooking oils with meals (lots of omega-9, also helps to offset the negative impact of omega-6.) The olive oil has to be COOC certified as many out there are fake/tainted.
-Avoidance of all oils high in omega-6, which are many, and I find this to be the most difficult part as you do have to be diligent with reading labels.
-He also uses vagus nerve stimulation, generally for patients over age 35, or those who don't respond to the rest of the protocol.

That's it. My only remaining symptoms now are related to autonomic nervous system dysfunction, so for me this a pretty low risk/high potential reward regimen. I hope to report back positive news in the coming months.
