Lyme poor immunity

Does anyone else with Lyme disease struggle to beat viruses like the common flu?
It take me 2 to 3 times longer than everyone around be to get better from a flu.

many with lyme ( and bart and babesia ) struggle with immune dysfunction - this is a well known phenomenon with studies showing anywhere up to 1/3 of patients have measurable immunoglobulin deficiencies - see horowitz etc

and beyond those gross measures many simply have poor immune function even when traditional markers such as immunoglobulins and white cell counts are normal. some of these things can be measured eg poorly responding natural Killer cells - and some causes are not yet readily measurable

however every persons immune system is different - and each infection / strain has differences also - which means there is a wide variety of manifestations across all lyme patients.

for instance some find they have no noticeable colds or flu at all since getting ill with lyme

one thing is common to all though - as a result of any chronic infection there will be some dysfunction of the immune system - as otherwise the infection would be cleared and not chronic.

this may mean they have difficulty recovering from the primary infection - or they may suffer ongoing nuisance infections - such as urinary tract infections, ear infections, fungal infections etc - or may have immune reactivity to foods etc

I second what dcd suggested. My Lyme doc periodically does these labs. There’s IgA, IgG, IgE, IgM and IgG Subclasses panel. Also CD57 panel.

Cheers people, i have had my immune system checked and it wasnt grea. T cells were low as were neutrophils and a few other bits and pieces.

This flu that ive got is still lingering, becoming really tempting to just take the antibiotics that ive got in my draw lol.

My point was that most people dont have long term issues with lyme when they are exposed. two weeks of doxy
cures most people. Why do others have an immune system that doesnt take care of lyme
