Anybody who has had Covid shot and Lyme, feeling better with your Lyme symptoms?

Hello, it has been a while since I have posted on here. My mother has Lyme, she had her first AstraZeneca Covid shot Tuesday. She said that she is feeling better since the shot 3 days ago. She doesn't have Covid. Is there any chance the AstraZeneca shot can be helping with Lyme disease? Her LLMD said that some of his other Lyme patients have mentioned the same thing. I know Covid is a virus and Lyme is a bacteria. Hope you can help. Thanks!

Hmmm - maybe I should reconsider getting the vax.

I find this aspect very intriguing. If anyone learns more about how/why this happens and for whom, please post.

My initial symptoms/illness began in 2009 four days after what I believe was my 2nd ever flu vaccine. I do not know if thimerosol was in that vaccine or not.

In 2015, I reluctantly submitted to a PneumoVax vaccine, which is what the allergist used to “test” my immune system, as I insisted that something was wrong with my immune system. He tested my pneumonia titers before the vaccine and said they were low. He tested 2 weeks after the vaccine, and titers had risen enough to validate that my immune system responded to the vaccine. I also got a 3rd (and last) flu vaccine very shortly after that. I had no obvious adversities nor improvements following those vaccines.

This was all months before I finally saw a Functional MD who actually knew how to order lab tests that show your immune system status without making me a guinea pig and who advised me against vaccines, at least for the time being. I was diagnosed with CIRS/mold and tested with 3 labs before getting a positive DNA test for Lyme and ehrlichia.

I wish more was known and understood. If I knew I would have a positive outcome from one of the non-mRNA vaccines, then I might risk it.

Does anyone know if this phenomenon has occurred in Lyme or other chronic illness patients with other vaccines, or is this unique to the COVID vaccines?

The clinic that tests my immune cells (under IgG ect) yearly also offered the Pneumovax 23 a few years ago to check my immune reaction / titters. I just didnt want to "stir the pot", and still dont.

No one seems to have answers how actual tested low immune and or even autoimmune reacts with the COVID vax. All they say is the same canned answer of we dont know but the benefits out-way the risk. How can they say that if they admit to not knowing the risk (yet if any).

I want solid data, and they dont have this yet??. eeerrrrr....

igg was into the 400 range for M-Pneumoniae. it's this dangerously high?

Edison - I’m talking about immune system immunoglobulin IgG and the subclasses under it.

You are talking about specific pathogen antibody IgG, Of which there are quite a few for known various pathogens even for candida.

these are two different things but easily confused.

understood however are there other tests such as this we should order for blood work?

This is just another theory, but perhaps for those that a specific vaccine helps maybe their issue is related to what they are being vaccinated for. The vaccine then alerts the immune system to seek out the offender and clear it. This is one of the theories with covid vaccine helping covid long haulers. They could still have a low level infection uncleared and undetectable by test.

Perhaps those with lyme that it helps really have a viral issue as their main problem. Could be viral from a tick. Possibly another coronavirus.

My issues started after a yeast infection. A yeast vaccine would be nice!

The other theory about kick starting the immune system also makes sense. And in that case wouldn’t really matter what the specific vaccine was for. It does seem that MRNA vaccine elicits a very strong response, so that could be a factor. I’m wondering if anyone who had j&j vaccine have had this benefit? We are in an interesting time where huge numbers of people are getting vaccinated after having a specific disease. I’m not sure if we would have ever noticed this phenomenon if it weren’t for covid.

If it is in fact low level infection persisting then this is a big deal for lyme disease patients whom have been told this is not possible.

One caveat is that you can also see how a vaccine could go the other way. A healthy immune system going haywire when stimulated.

Just an update. My mother had her first Covid shot on April 20th I think, and her Lyme symptoms are continuing to get better. Improvement was first noticed 3 days after shot. She hasn't been on antibiotics for over 2 months and her symptoms were beginning to return before she received the 1st vaccine. So everyone, the Covid vaccine may help you as well. Just a heads up.

I was concerned that the vax might cause a flare in symptoms and put me back...

I'll put my 2 cents in. Had the first Moderna 4/15. Not doing so hot. Symptoms are flaring almost similar to when I did Lyme SOT back in July of last year though SOT was even worse. I'm most probably going to skip the second shot.

It seemed in the SFN group that the few people who did have an uptick in symptoms were Moderna. Weren’t many but someone did comment how it seemed like they were all Moderna. All anecdotal of course

My first COVID vaccine was J&J. I had a very bad version of the normal side effects - fever, aches, malaise - really flat-out for 36 hours. Then a little tired for a few days. I take curcumin and quercetin as part of my typical supplement regimen, so that probably helped my system regain its equilibrium post-vaccine. (I did stop the curcumin for a few days before and after to make sure my immune system had a strong reaction to it.) At my LLMD's recommendation, I also took glutathione and other antioxidants before and after the vaccine to support my system.

My second vaccine was Pfizer, and the response was the same. I returned to my baseline on the same timeline.

I think it’s a disease that can even “take down” people who were healthy prior.

Interesting info about lacking an immune protein. I wonder if the reverse is true for those who haven’t gotten it? I am beginning to believe some have natural immunity against COVID. Especially when relatives of mine have not contracted it and others including myself had it twice.

I got the Pfizer vaccine beginning of this year. I fell I’ll to ba4/5 in August. I am not fond of the idea of chasing variants with vaccines especially with Lyme and auto thyroid,but I remain on the fence.
