but our bodies produce many signalling chemicals when we are in the sun - not only vitamin D.
there are lots of immune related compounds also.
so i would also think its an immune mediated effect - not necessarily via mast cells.

This is what I was trying to think of when I mentioned Vit D but didn’t know how to explain it right. Sunlight initiates a process in the body in relation to Vit D, or as Garzie suggested, many other processes.
Think about
plants and the photochemical processes that occur with sunlight.
It’s possible that some have depletions of other substances necessary for those processes to occur correctly and it creates problems. Just like methylation and sulfation and all the other stuff we often are messed up in.
I suppose if negative effects are being felt now and not in the winter, it may be because the sun is getting closer in spring. I remember talking and hearing about
spring fever growing up. I looked into a few times, but I don’t think anyone knows everything involved in the phenomenon. I suspect just as you can visibly see the effects of fast growth and changes in plants in spring that there may be unseen similarities going on in our bodies in spring as well. It takes a lot of energy for all that. Our bodies are depleted.
