Can someone guide me a little, im self treating for babs and as I researched more I can confirm clindo is not effective against bart in vitro, to clear up the confusion on my other post, so the clindo is making me herx and I'm def having die off of babs. My question is , do I need to take the antibiotics and antimalarial combo or herbs everyday for babs, or is the right way to do it pulsing? Like take it for 1 week then detox the other 3 weeks of the month, I've heard of ppl doing this? Bt want sure if I had to take it straight or if it was okay to pulse in the beginning? I can only guess pulsing is done when ppl herx to much to slow it down? Thanks

Well my Dr pulses all his protocols - I will try to come back and post what my protocol was for Babesia.

I have to find my paperwork - it was a few years ago!

I’m a mess so I don’t do this but my doc typically does a pulse therapy where you take abx Monday Wednesday Friday for three weeks then take a whole week off

being on clindo for 1 week eliminated my nead pressure and dizziness /pots but I'm just starting treatment and had to stop after a week because of the neuralgia in my.brain and chest, and I can imagine the die off load ****, only thing that's been working is detox for the next 2 weeks, enough until the die off is under control, so I figured that's the way to go and take only what I can tolerate u know?

I'm a mess as well. I took clindamycin for babs for 1 week and had to stop because I felt my brain was burning on fore, my chest too. Imagine just 1 week of antibiotics and I stopped and been herxing ever since,with heavy chest pressure and panic. If 1 week of antibiotics had me suffering for the following 2 weeks then I imagine that's why ppl pulse lol! I figure take what i can handle

Here's my babesia protocol:

Cycle 1:

Week 1: M/W/F Ceftin,Bactrim, Mepron (2 tsp twice daily), Artemisinin 800 twice daily, Enula 10 drops twice daily

Week 2: Same as week 1 PLUS on Th/F Flagyl 500 mg twice daily.

Cycle 1 was 2 weeks on and 1 week off


Cycle 2: Days 1-7 Xylitol 1/2 tsp plus lactoferrin 250 mg X1
Then do the Week 1 and Week 2 above...except 2 weeks on and 2 weeks of.


(So my first protocol was approx 2 months)

Second protocol:

Week 1:
Days 1-7: 2 tsp xylitol plus lactoferrin 500 mg.

M/W/F: Ceftin 500mg x2 daily; Mepron 2 tsp twice daily , Artemisinin 800 X2, Enula 10 drops twice daily,
Th/Fri: Flagyl 500 mg twice daily and Diflucan 200 mg twice daily.

Week 2:
M/W/F Ceftin 500 mg x 2 daily; Minocycline 100 mg x2
Mon thru Friday: Mepron 2 tsp twice daily, Artemisinin 800 mg X 2, Enula 10 drops twice daily.

Week 3 and Week 4 OFF

I did 3 cycles of 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off

Then I went on to Bartonella/Persisters protocol.

NOTE: I started with Bactrim, but asked to have it switched to something else because I freaked out when I had some lesion type things on my body. I was worried about SJS.
It was changed to minocycline.

My LLMD felt strongly about not pulsing Babesia meds... he was comfortable doing so for Lyme and
Bartonella.

I’m wondering too.

It has been working quite well for DrJ’s patients.. but DrJ uses more abx than most LLMD’s

The explanation was that Babesia replicates quickly and is not a good candidate for pulsing. I was diagnosed in the acute phase of the infection so my treatment was very aggressive.

Ive had babesia for years and years had all the symptoms bt I was treated so late. I had to stop clindomycin after 1 week because I herx so bad and now it's been 2 weeks no treatment just detoxing, and i feel sick to my stomach ,panic attacks ,sweating and chest pressure, what did you all take as an antimalarial for babs, because doc says u cant kill it with antibiotics alone?

MedicalNerd Yes you are right in that you can’t kill Babesia with antibiotics alone. I took Mepron initially and later switched to Malarone.

I'm self treating because an llmd is a little pricey at the moment and plus I didnt want to delay treatment any longer so mepron and malarone arent an option for me since I would need a prescription. I've been tested for babs once came bk neg despite tick bite and all the symptoms so I self treat. Since i have no prescription what else maybe I'll start cryptolepis?
