Researching and finding a lot of good information on the lymes forums! I live in NY & found a good sized tick that had been embedded for at least a couple days in the autumn of 2020. I went to our local urgent care clinic but did not take the doxycycline horse pills they prescribed because I have a horrible time swallowing pills of any kind. Also, I wasn't having any symptoms of lymes at the time. I felt great. I recently saw an orthopedic doctor for ganglion cysts on both of my wrists. I was tested for lymes which showed positive for Kd Igg 39, 41, 58 and 93. They again prescribed doxycycline which I honestly tried to take but after 2 days of it my G.I. tract felt like it was on fire. I still don't have any symptoms like those mentioned here in the lymes forum. I am being referred to an infectious disease doctor who specializes in lymes. My question is - if a person has only Igg antibodies with no Igm antibodies showing no current infection but a previous exposure only, then why take an antibiotic? Will it still help? I also tested positive for covid & am currently quarantined. Again, absolutely no symptoms of covid. I'm wondering if it's a false positive caused by the antibodies to lymes?? Very confused.

I'm no expert but was once told by LLMD that nothing turns lyme bands positives except Lyme. I was highly functioning and very active then began having pain in 2011 or 2012. Misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia. When I was bit in 2016 the test showed old infection/new infection. The original Lyme never really bothered me (except that it was doing damage inside) the second one was a bad case. My son had many seemingly unrelated health issues. Once I had him tested he also had Lyme. A concussion woke up his dormant symptoms. It's this way for many of us - either still functioning or misdiagnosed. An ID doctor will only give you antibiotics and will only give them for two weeks. There are experts on here who can help you and guide you if you want a more natural approach. Good luck with both LD and Covid. Sounds like you are asymptomatic.

Do you have any lyme symtoms wild blue, or just ganglion cysts?

My take, and this is my LLMDs as well, is that a lot of people have exposure to lyme. My LLMD went so far as to say everyone does. Only some of us end up symptomatic tho. It kind of turns into an immune system tolerance question.

So does treating with abx help that late in the game? Some people have success, others dont and end up having to target ways to calm the immune system, such immunomodulatory herbs, removing other triggers, etc

For me it kind of becomes an epistemological question in that, if everyone has lyme in them, you can never really say what makes the symptoms pop up years later. I feel there are many layers to the onion we call “lyme”, w spirochetes being only one of them

Thanks for responding Huddie & dcd2103. I will be combing through the forums for natural treatments. My sister-in-law had the bullseye rash and bell's palsy years ago after a tick bite. She used cat's claw and teasel root, which she says were very effective along with an antibiotic. Sounds like it's better to do something now even if I'm not currently having symptoms & hope it reduces the chance of long term effects. I'm so happy I found this forum. The opportunity to learn from others who have years of experience with lyme when you are "brand new" is invaluable.

Is your dr In Washington, DC?
That is who I see for Lyme treatment.

IgG or IgM can indicate an active infection in lyme… so treating with antibiotics should help, yes.

Hi Girlie. I'm being referred to an infectious disease doctor in Sayre, PA. I'm in Upstate NY (Finger Lakes, wineries and dairy farms) so I'm sure they are sending me to the closest. DC would be quite a hike from here.
