Bart 1st choice of antibiotics?

I'm curious what was your llmds 1st choice for bart treatment? Injust hate when they say let's start you on doxy. Doxy almost never works or is ineffective and that's why I'm here on these forums just like many others. Ppl seem to relapse on doxy the most. Nurse wants to start me on something "light" as if I haven't been on clindamycin which made me herx terrible amd then the doxy that I seemed to relapse off. Is tetracycline really effective in treating bart? That's what she recommends starting me on bt what do i know.

Bump also wondering. I’m currently on doxy/azithromycin/oil of oregano and not herxing or having Bart noticeably improve.

Oil of oregano wild crafted kind made me herx like crazy off only 1 drop. It's just I dnt see any point in burdening the body with antibiotics if they arent working or herxing. What do u do for detox?

Doxy alone is not effective for bart.

Both times I treated Bartonella the first lyme doc prescribed Rifampin and the second one went stronger with Rifabutin.
I took minocycline with Rifampin.
I took mino, and ceftin with Rifabutin
Plus a few months of Dapsone and Daraprim

Bart is a beast!

The fluoroquinolone abx are apparently the most effective and my second llmd prescribes it a lot but I refused it because of the fda black box warnings.

Tetra def hit me harder than doxy herx-wise. Bart treatment is a long marathon if the infection is entrenched. Many people seem to go right into the Dr M Clarithro + Rifampin-->Rifabutin protocol. That ended up being too harsh for me and made my symptoms much worse. Looks like you are working with Dr SP. Their protocols treat the brain well I think. They are a good practice. My advice is to not try to push with aggressive treatment too fast if you are a sensitive or very ill patient like me.

I am both sensitive and "ill", however we define ill lol. I've been sick for too many years. I'm thinking my issue is bart/babs rather than lyme. I take Japanese knotweed and NAC to break down biofilms as well, and its not my 1st time being on herbals. Hopefully it'll knock some of the years of bacteria buildup that was already in there so it wont be too bad during abx . Or then again, my thought is these bacteria multiply so who knows.

Always at least two abx for Lyme and coinfections

Possibly Tetra and Rifampin or Rifabutin

First go at Bart with Rifampin plus mino - I lost a lot of symptoms… but slowly over many months
Then I plateaued.

Then switched to a new Lyme doc.
He insists all patients treat babesia first before Bart.
I did that for a few months

Then I did the Bart/Persisters protocol that included Rifabutin and I got rid of the rest except for a couple.
I had a very bad herx when I was on the Rifabutin (and dapsone , daraprim and mino and ceftin)
Almost went to hospital emergency.
Arms were jerking uncontrollably , high fever, head hurt really bad..
Can’t remember what else.
It was so bad that my husband took the next day off work because he was worried .

Rifabutin was stronger than Rifampin.

I’m close to symptom free.
I still have back pain and memory still isn’t great.
Sometimes my feet hurt in the morning when I get out of bed.

I had over 30 symptoms

Yah good luck. I worked with the NP Caitlin I think you are working with for a while. Honestly, if you are a bad case I don't think she is really expert enough. She was never good at answering any of my questions. I would try to work directly with SP. Also, there are LLMD's who will prescribe you medicines for neurological and psychiatric complications so you don't have to see multiple doctors who don't even believe your diagnosis. I am just starting with Dr. J in Rockville MD. I have had bart since birth I think and it is entrenched in all my skin, connective tissue, and deep in the brain. I'm pretty sure I am ****ed but trying to stay positive and do everything I can to eradicate bart and heal all the damage.

I'm laughing it off (trying to) after just spending near $1400 . She doesnt answer questions well, then seeing multiple doctors instead of them prescribing something for psychiatric symptoms is what got me smh. Money was tight so I tried to see her instead of Dr.sp directly. Not sure how long I've had bart bt I'm thinking since I was a kid. I had 1 neg bart test bt have this intense burning through my chest stomach amd brain so does that sound like bart plus the neurophsyc symptoms? Thanks for the input btw
