Thank you for being here. I am quite unsure of what would be the best approach and hope for input!
Two weeks ago yesterday, I was diagnosed with Lyme's, based on the EM.
I had been having symptoms* for about
4 weeks but I also had had a hip bursitis for about
4 months - this had finally calmed down a bit so I finally could stand straight and walk again. According to GP those symptoms were not the bursitis = not a bacterial infection. [* sore throat, earaches, headache, stiffness in neck, AND he most worrisome, the same pain as I had when I had rheumatic fever as a child, a sort of awful toothache, but then in my joints, especially my left knee.] I am extra alert
to those, having had rheumatic fever twice, as a child. With this Lyme's diagnose the penny dropped, for me.
Got doxycylin for 10 days, GP gave me 4 extra days when I requested, but will not give me more. This should be enough according to them.
My problem now is that I've been having the worst symptoms on the AB, can't walk, pain everywhere and a deep and black feeling of depression. Found out this probably was herxing. Most of the previous symptoms have disappeared now. And since 2 days, the depression is not so black anymore.
I got worried and started mega ALA = 1800 mgs a day a few weeks before the EM appeared, just to make sure my resistance was optimum. Just hoping now this might have helped prevent the Lyme's get in too deep.
After 2 weeks AB the bright red spot on my leg has turned pink, but the leg is still quite painful - cannot take more pain meds due to heart medication.
I realize this is not a clear and brief post, my apologies. I'm still in tears very quickly, I hate being so dependent on help and can only hope that it will not stay like this.
I am 72 years old, normally I would have said 72 years young, but that has changed now!
Looking for understanding, perhaps advice, and hopefully reassurance!
Thanks again
