Can I just confirm that it’s safe to do all three, Lyme, Babs and Bart, Buhner protocols at the same time? I’ve checked previous forum posts and it seems to be okay, but still a little nervous. Has anyone tried this?

I’m giving up on my herbalist, her prescription mixed tinctures make me herx so bad it’s unbearable. Building up slow one by one has got to be better than this.

Hi Gemma I'm pretty sure Buhner has said it's ok to do. I've done it but I've never been on the bart or babs protocols for longer than 60 days.

I think cryptolepis is one that you may need to be careful with long-term (probably dosage dependent)

Thanks so much Pots. I’ve definitely been on Crypto for longer than 60 days 😕 I’ve no idea how many ml’s I take due to the herbalist’s pants mega mix which she refuses to break down into singles 🩲

am taking a pretty extensive mix of the buhner protocols long term without issues so far

i have built up gradually over time

first the full lyme protocol - per the second edition of his healing lyme book with the extended protocols that include Uncaria Rhynchophilia, Kudzu etc
so
Chinese Skullcap root - 2ml 4x
Uncaria Rhynchophylla - 4ml 4x
Cordyceps Mycelium - 3ml 4x
Salvia Miltiorrhiza root - 3.9ml 4x
Uncaria tormentosa bark - 3ml 4x
Kudzu root - 3ml 4x
Licorice root – 0.5ml 4x

these are all though to be safe long term - with the possible exception of Licorice with which care needs to be taken long term even at this low dose

then gradually introduced a selection of co-infection herbs
Berberis root 1:5 tincture 1.42ml 4x
Houttuynia leaf 1:5 tincture 2.55ml 4x
sida acuta leaf 1:5 tincture 0.89ml 4x
teasel root 1:3 tincture 0.7ml 4x
Alcornea leaf 1:5 tincture 0.89ml 4x
cryptolepis root 1:5 tincture 0.89ml 4x

i think most of the herbs from the western botanical practice are pretty well understood and safe long term
the African herbs, cryptolepis, alcornea - possibly sida are somewhat less well studied scientifically and i think there is caution for that reason.
the main sources of the safety record are their use in indigenous cultures in Africa - where they are used in moderate doses long term / indefinitely.

i could not continue on abx combinations - so the above alternative is working for me.
progress is however slow and steady - and for me staying on the protocol seems like the best choice.

i have not had any adverse effects that worsen over time and give me reason to stop - only initial herx like effects as i increased dose - and then gradual improvements

Did you notice anything from Chinese Skullcap?
I started making the tea recently.
It's to early to tell if it's doing anything, so I'm just curious if you noticed anything?

Wow Garzie, that’s awesome! Well done on getting as far as you have and thanks so much for the breakdown, it definitely helps.

I found a great guy on YouTube last night who went about it in a similar way to you. This video he posted is really inspirational and helped get me out of the defeated frame of mind I was in.

hi RC - i take it as a tincture - i didn't notice much short term - possible a bit of mild herxing - aching in the ribs - bit in the liver area etc - mild compared to the strong antimicrobial herbs like sida

but long term i think it helps significantly

as it wasn't in my original Buhner protocol - but i was in a bart/mycoplasma protocol - that i benefitted from - and then when i added it as part of my expanded lyme immune modulating herbs protocol - that was when my slow recovery started.

i built up to 4ml 4x - hoping it would help sleep - but that's above recommended long term dose so stepped back down to 2ml 4x after a slight concern around its CYP3A4 inhibiting effects

its one of the higher alcohol tinctures - 60% i think - so not sure how tea will compare
also be aware if effects levels of many other medications due to the CyP3A4 inhibiting effects

Like you, he took it slow and steady, gradually upping the dosages. It took him a long time but he got there eventually. He followed the Buhner protocol to the T until he finally got up to max doses of everything.
