I forgot to mention, I didn’t notice the numbness made it hard to swallow but separately my throat had been closing up at times last week (hasn’t happened in the last few days) but that of course made it uncomfortable to swallow.

I had trouble swallowing early in my illness. It was like the muscle mechanism wouldn’t work right and would be delayed. It felt scary and was one of my most frightening symptoms. I figured out later that it was most likely caused by autonomic dysfunction, which is very common with these infections.

Bestill- so glad your tongue is feeling better! It sounds like you are on the right track with the Thyroid issue combined with lyme. Mine is pretty much the same, but has been for the last year and a half, so I think I pretty much have nerve damage. Ugh. Good news is that I think I finally might have found a doctor who might put me on the path to healing. I'm seeing her and the team on Monday. Speaking to her on the phone today was like a breath of fresh air since she actually acknowledged my test results and thinks my lyme has been dormant for quite some time and has roared to life. I might actually receive treatment!!!
