I don't know if I told it but I do have lyme too. I'm breastfeeding him and treating myself with buhner herbs so he's getting some of that too. I got my EM last August and was breastfeeding him, then get amoxicillin and after months when I realized what lyme actually was I started buhner protocol while breastfeeding. I think I did the best as he could be infected meanwhile I wasn't in treatment so he gets the herbs throughmy milk... I don't know if I had lyme for many years as I do had symptoms.

Armin labs is a good lab too -

They have an Immunoblot and another test I can’t remember.

I’ll try and look it up.

Edit - the other test is ISpot.

You could get both of them.

Yeah the only thing is that it is a glycerin based tincture. I think it would act mostly the same as an alcohol based tincture, just at a reduced strength (Buhner dosage quoted earlier was for alcohol based).

Hi everyone! I want to make an update... So after all of that happened I made him an iSpot test in Arminlabs after we get home from vacations and it came back positive "weak current celular activity against borrelia". So I had my LLMD appointment yesterday and she recommended me giving him amoxiciline for 3 weeks. Because since the rash appeared he started getting more symptoms: red dots over his body, food allergies (he's getting hives when he eats strawberries, which is something new) he's eyes are swollen some days, and some days he has light sensivity... what do you guys think? I'm about to start the treatment today.

i haven't read into it in any detail - but i think amoxillin is regarded as safe for infants - and is used in preference to doxycycline in children - mainly because doxy can cause permanent staining of teeth in children while their teeth are still forming - amoxillin is also effective for lyme and does not have that issue.

i have been using them for years and prefer the quality to most other available suppliers to europe.

sorry to hear of your and your little ones troubles - at least a positive diagnosis makes treatment clearer.

i know its a lot to cope with already - but one other consideration is that lyme is seldom a single infection and co-infections are more often the norm - so once a tick borne infection is detected the likelihood of others is also raised - and it may therefore be wise to at least discuss co-infections with the LLMD.

Do you know of anybody who has treated their toddlers with herbs? Mine is almost 2 years old and my herbalist recommended me giving him 1 drop of Japanese knotweed per day.

i do not personally know anyone who had done so - but then i only know one other person who has lyme - other than people i know through this forum and others like it.

i believe there are others on the forum who have treated their children with buhners lyme herbs - but i am afraid i cant say how old they were

Stephen Buhner in his books on herbal treatment of lyme says all the main lyme herbs are safe for children - even infants - and suggests dosing should simply be adjusted per bodyweight - with 150lb as full dose ( so a 50lb child would need 50/150 or 1/3 of the full adult dose).

he also suggests building up slowly starting with around 1/4 of the intended dose for the first week and increasing by around another 1/4 per week - so dosing would be 25% 1st week, 50% 2nd week 75% 3rd week and full dose on week 4

others here find they need to start even lower than this - but these people have often been ill for a long time - many years

his second edition of Healing Lyme book is an excellent resource and well worth the cover price - discount book seller have it for around £10-£12

It’s been almost been 8 weeks since the bite?

What are his symptoms at this point?

Treat until symptoms are gone plus a few more weeks.
Please Don’t miss the opportunity to treat this so it doesn’t go chronic.

It happened on 24th July. Right now he gets the red dots and swollen eyes, he starts rubbing them and it starts to turn red and swollen, he avoids strong sunlight... and he started having hives when he eats strawberries. Should I start the treatment with amoxy tonight? I just bought the abx and I'm so worried something can happen tonight! Or should I wait until tomorrow morning? Thank you!

Hi! Wanted to make an update. I've been treating him since 16th September and he's doing great! He's symptoms are going away slowly. Only 1 red dot in his leg today! I think he's more playful and less moody since taking the antibiotics. In buhners book he says that amoxycylin kills from 80 to 90% of the bugs. I'm wondering what to do next, after the antibiotics... should I give him herbs? What do you guys think? I don't want him to develop chronic lyme... also my LLMD recommends me weaning him because she said I can pass him borrelia through breast milk. So we are in the process and he's doing well. He is also taking probiotics, omega 3, vitamin D, reishi and vitamin C. I'm trying to save money for the coinfection test as well and wondering how to treat coinfections in a toddler.

How many more days of amoxy do you have for him?
Keep giving him the amoxy -hopefully until signs/symptoms are gone plus a couple weeks.

You may only need to treat him with the amoxy often that is the case when treating soon after the bite.

For insurance, treating with herbs for coinfections (a couple weeks) would be good.m IMO

I’m glad you have been proactive with his treatment.
