i have a big bag of it - but have only tried it once and i thought i had more fatigue and achiness the next day - but could just be the ups and downs of lyme etc.
i did a fair bit of reading around it and i think the problem that exists is much the same as for most herbs - in that the scientific work simply has not been done to pin down the exact mechanisms of action and against which lyme relavant bacterial species. There is just no money in herbal medicine.
i don't know if it is effective for Bartonella - but came across some stuff from Dr Klinghardt saying that it can be used pretty as monotherapy for Lyme. starting at 2 cups a day and working up to 6 or 8 a day - which i found surprising. and you would think that to work for most people with Lyme it would have to address common co-infections also .....
a lot of the papers i read seemed to concentrate on its anti-inflammatory properties more than its anti-microbial ones - and a whole lot of others were concerned with quantifying comparing the various compounds in the various species ( seems there are a lot of species in the family all with slightly different profiles )
i do seem to remember the herb has some carvacrol in it - and that has been shown to be active against both lyme and bart persisters in vitro - eg the work by Zhang at John Hopkins - but whether the tissue concentrations are enough from tea to be effective in vivo - i don't know
the other thing i noted is it does seem to suffer from what i would call the "full moon Russian virgin phenomenon" - in that various sources - often with interests linked to certain producers/ brand or resellers tend to expound the benefits of the herb - but only when wild harvested from a particular greek island - or only this particular strain - or when harvested by Russian virgins during a full moon - you get the idea. don't quite know how to navigate all that to get what is likely to be a solid product. I just bought some I think from Cypress and labeled organic
i like the taste also - and plan to use it at some point - but with around 8 buhner herbs for immune modulation, six for co-infections that i keep trying to notch up the doses on, and now starting LDN i have a bit too much going on to add anything else into the mix right now ...
