Seeking Heavenly Climate Aid

Hey fellow lyme Warriors ,

I’ve dealt w/ significant debilitating lyme, mcas, mold etc for 1/2 of my life (I’m 41). I need a lot or help w/ simple tasks, so still live in my childhood home (CT) with my awesome mom. When I was doing some better in 2016-18, I briefly visited (with help) 4 different geographical locations and felt great in 2 (Grand Cayman and Vegas) and terrible in 2 (Seattle and Austin). Despite The obvious differences, the warm, pristine ocean of Grand Cayman and the dry desert of Vegas both seemed to bring my body back to life. It was so incredibly tantalizing to feel that short lived revitalization. I really want to figure out a way I could stay somewhere in the Southwest, like Vegas that doesn’t have super high elevation (I do worse with pressure change/precipitation). Like a lot of us, I’m on a fixed income (social security) and don’t have wealthy family members. I wondering if anyone knows of some type of housing relocation assistance type program that offers aid for people that deal with significant chronic health issues and do better in alternative climates. I’m hopeful that if I could be in a supportive climate for an extended period of time, my health would improve and I would have the strength to work, eventually reducing or getting off of assistance all together. It’s a journey - an overused and slightly cheesy expression but true nevertheless.

Hi, Noah. Welcome to the forum! While I don't know of funding assistance, I'm wondering if there might be a place nearby that might feel good, even if you can't live there full-time. Many of us feel rejuvenated by the ocean because of the plethora of negative ions produced there, which also can be produced in pine forests and waterfalls. Maybe there's an easy hike nearby with those elements - evergreens and a waterfall - you could spend time near? Just an idea to tide you over until you can find something better.

I feel the best when I’m in Hawaii.

You mentioned negative ions. I found a place about 45 minutes away that has a salt room and a sauna. I visited the place but never went back to do any treatment. Look up salt room or salt therapy and see if there’s something like that near you. The salt room has himalayan salt rocks on the floor and walls. There are zero gravity chairs around the room to sit in and relax and breathe the air.
