Hello I am trying to better understand the main Gupta Exercise in relation to the DNRS system which greatly aggrevated my spasming/dystonia while positively impacting my emf symptoms. The main exercise of the DNRS uses neurolinguistic programming prior to a desensitization exercise. You do an hour's worth at least daily for 6-12+ months with additional excerises to stop thought loops and meditations as well. The intro to the main exercise goes roughly as follows with steps and hand movements "stop, stop, stop my brain is in a rut and sending my body false messages. Overfiring of the protective Mechanisms of the limbic system, in the past resulted in [symptoms]. But now I know the symptoms are a result of the crosswiring of my limbic system, and I choose to rewire my brain. Way to go, great choice. I love you and am so proud of you. Thank you so much limbic system, for protecting me in the best way that you know how. But you can just relax now there's a new program and that means you do not have to work so hard anymore. (Name) what state do I choose. (Short affirmation)." From there you expose yourself to the trigger and imagine a positive memory to the point that you get goosebumps and tears of joy. This is followed by a body scanning style exercise.
Ultimately you a flush of Seretonin, oxytocin, bdnf, etc. This causes dendritic growth particularly in the medial prefrontal cortex and some neurogenesis in the hippocampus putting your brain into a more plastic state where the visualizations with exposure to help to retrain the brain's response. This is actually a similar neurological response to therapeutic use of low dose psychedelics. These illnesses are far more complex than just these few brain structures vs others ie reticular activating system, brain stem circuits, basal ganglia structures etc and associated brain networks nevertheless these exercises can be extremely valuable.
How does the main Gupta Exercise compare?
Gupta has a floor mat with 7 steps to follow on (I Personally don’t use the map but walk on a path that mimics it in my head)
Step 1: stare at a point on the wall when you notice (the negative feeling though emotion etc) and say Stop Stop Stop, deep breath in and a big smile step back into step 2 leaving all negativity behind
Step 2: go into a place of peace and acceptance, imagine a representation of love standing beside you making you feel safe and warm (many people will use their pet, children, loved one as the representation), step forward onto step 3 and turn 180 degrees
Step 3: imagine the worried part of you floating above step 1, say “thank you for warning me, but you can relax and let go, because… (say things applicable to you). Physically wrap your arms around yourself to give a big hug as you imagine giving the big hug/love/security to that worried part
Step 4: while standing in same spot as step 3, imagine yourself standing on step 2 doing the retraining, and say “you’re on the way to health and happiness, keep going I believe in you, you can do it. Step onto step 5 (same spot as step 2) and turn 180 degrees.
Step 5: think about
the decision you’ve made, and then step onto step 6 saying “I choose health and happiness”.
Step 6: go back into a past memory of health with a big smile, imagine this memory of health and a color rising from your feet and your entire body so you’re glowing with the color, then recite “I am/I feel statements” with a smile. Think about
something you’re going to do today or later in the week, repeat “I am/I feel statements”
Step 7: reengage with joy. Dont think about
the program or whether it worked, resume your day
This main 7 step retrainer takes a little less than 5 minutes to complete. There’s a shorter 3 step version that is about
90’ seconds. If you aren’t in a place where you can physically do the movements or are physically unable then you just imagine doing them in your head. Gupta wants you do you these multiple times a day when you experience the negative feeling thought emotion etc. i usually just do this once and then the accelerator which is 10 minutes. I’m about
5 months in at doing these about
5-6 days a week (15 mins total) but no change in my dysautonomia yet.
How long does the main DNRS exercise take? What is the cost? And can I just do the main exercise without having to go through hours of videos if I ever purchased it?
Gupta has a ton of additional meditations and exercises for some specific things. I am going to stick with it for the year but it’s unlikely I can do more than the 15 mins a day.
