Disulfiram Failures

For those of you who did not recover with Disulfiram, I just had an idea.

“I did hear Dr Rajedas taking about disulfiram "shattering" lyme spirochetes into many many tiny pieces - all of which were very immune reactive - more so than other antibiotics - and this was one reason why the herx like symptoms were so extreme with disulfiram - and he said it would be nice to do research to find agents that simply killed them in place. so it seems this is a thing.”

My idea is that those who failed to arrive after treating with Disulfiram would be prime candidates, I think, to benefit from Cholestyramine. It has the potential to remove those immuno-reactive fragments and stop symptoms. Definitely worth a serious trial (30 days), IMO. Be sure to read comments on the other thread.

Toxins ending up in the bile and causing GI upset is a problem I mostly had with bartonella. Perhaps colestyramine could help with this.

The toxic load associated with borrelia die-off is a much more complex problem. Borrelia is known to produce a substance, referred to as NapA (Neutrophil activating protein A) which does exactly what it was named for, and the increase in neutrophils is easily measured with a blood test.

I found that a whole lot of other stuff comes out during a borrelia herx, but mostly in my urine and not in bile. I would often get smelly, couldy/opaque urine. I don't know what the mystery opaque substance is, lab tests seemed to rule out uric acid.

Another problem is that the dying borrelia releases the disulfiram that killed it. I also had this problem with divalproex (which has a similar chemical structure to disulfiram) and to a lesser extent with tetracyclines and macrolides. I suspect this is a major cause of the sudden unexpected adverse effects from disulfiram.

Borrelia herx also caused me a lot of endocrine disrupting effects, including adrenal problems and signs of vitamin D toxicity. Borrelia is known to take up and use cholesterol, and I suspect it's picking up a bunch of steroids in the process. These steroids then get released during a herx and cause all sorts of endocrine issues. There have been many reports of vitamin D overdose on this forum, and I suspect this phenomenon is a major contributor along with the detox pathways being overloaded.

I don't know how the killing-in-place thing would work, because ultimately the dead bacteria are going to break down and release all this stuff.

I have orange flavor too, although no vanilla. Unfortunately mine comes with aspartame and I'm in the process of getting CSM without that.

In terms of histamine, I don't know enough about histamine reactions to comment on that. I wish I did but I'm just recently learning about people having issues with MCAS.

What I can tell you is that I didn't have a histamine reaction myself that I'm aware of. It might also be a good idea to go over the ingredients on the packaging before you try 🙂

Let us know how it goes! I just took it again myself, I feel like it helped a lot yesterday and today.

I wonder if Disulfiram actually kills bacteria in the body, or just busts open biofilms and what not. If your body cant handle that then watch out. All the tests have been in vitro well lots of things work in vitro.

Quin is divalproex the same as valproic acid? Like the brand name?
