Symptoms Seem to Be Worse After Three Weeks of Plaquenil

Taking Plaquenil for autoimmune. Neuropathy worse. Fatigue worse. Pain worse. Does that make any sense?

Plaquenil takes 3 months minimum to work as a DMARD, you won’t notice anything in 3 weeks. I would think it’s just from the stress you’re going through. I have seen some people say they had bad reactions to plaquenil, but more like side effects as opposed to exacerbation of symptoms, and it shouldn’t affect your neuropathy either, but i guess anything is possible

Your thought about stress is valid, dcd, and there are other things happening it could be. I wondered if it could be something from the plaquenil, even though it takes a long time to become effective. A this point, I have no idea what is going on, and I hope you are doing somewhat better the last couple of days.

agifia - That is what I was getting at - if the plaquenil could be causing a reaction like a herx. And thank you for your concern. Hope you are doing better.

stress defo flares my symptoms - subtle at first if its only for a day or so - but it it continues i can get accumulating symptoms and increasing severity

it sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment RW and also have had a lot of changes in your protocol as you try to find useful approaches. i fully understand the need to experiment and there is no progress without trailing things - but when there are too many changes - including stress/lifestyle in a few weeks it makes it really difficult to draw any conclusions about what might be going on

do you think it might be an idea to hold everything steady for a while - let the dust settle and everything calm down - then take stock and start a fresh ?
