Its all about
greed. I mean, how much profit is ENOUGH?
Thing is, decades ago, they prob actually said, "yea, this is enough profit",....and they were privately owned, no pressure from stock holders. Enter stock holders and nothing ids enough.
Prob with buying groceries from the little guy in the US is many regional big stores own the regional distribution. So the little guy pays the same wholesale price and still needs a mark up. Our local stores are super expensive.
Aldi (which is almost everywhere) is the only giant (although a small footprint) that keeps their prices in check, of course "house" brands make that possible. Was at Walmart yesterday, some normal food items I get were 10-15% higher all of a sudden.
Us Americans have been warned about
a big inflation increase for a few years now.....
That’s happened in the past but the initial sticker shock is well , kind of a shock to your wallet.
