carnivore die off

I’m experiencing massive die-off. Never had this on keto.

Symptoms:

Extreme belching and gas
Watery stools
Nausea
Fatigue
Developed a cystic acne nodule and I never get those, in addition to several odd red blotches that keep coming and going

Hoping it’s a good sign the microbiome is finally changing

No real point to the post other than I’m kind of happy to see some actual changes. I’ve always heard of this elusive “die off” from keto but never made it there myself

Pardon my ignorance. Can you please provide some context around "carnivore die off"?
Belching and gas have been issues for me

Hey bbailey.

So I had bad SIBO for years. Belching, gas, severe bloating whenever I ate anything. My SIBO tested extremely extremely high. Did rifraxamin 6x and had the breath test 4x since 2017. 104ppm hydrogen was my highest reading. So I def had/have SIBO.

When I went into ketosis my stools solidified and my belching basically went away. But they typically tell you to watch out for "die off". Which can happen anywhere from 3-9m into a super strict diet like that. Basically the bad bacteria start dying and you get severe bloating, gas loose stools and belching for a week or so, as if your SIBO was returning.

I never got any die off on keto. My stools just stayed perfect.

Not long after going on carnivore the stools go loose and smelly and mushy again. I started 1/1/2022. So it's been about 10 weeks. This past week I got bad belching, gas, diarrhea and nausea. I then had my first solid stool since starting carnivore this past weekend. I assume it's the elusive die-off I've never been able to achieve.

It's possible my SIBO is just coming back, although that would be odd. Never happened to me in a year of keto, SIBO was at bay. And now that I'm in carnivore i dont know what would feed the sibo for it to come back. All i eat literally is meat and some black coffee. So I think its die off, although I cant be sure.

I always wondered what it meant when people say the "bad bacteria" is dying off in the gut. Is it that the carnivore is starving the gut bacteria that depends on carbohydrates? Why would those bacteria be bad? Is it because they cause SIBO?

Whatever the case, I hope it works for ya man.

Mind sharing what your actual diet consist of? I'm thinking of trying it. Or I may just do a detox chicken soup diet. Do you use any anything like ginger, garlic or other spices?

My girlfriend followed the carnivore diet for a while. She just ate different meats, fat from animals, organ meats, and salt. It got quite expensive with only organic, mostly grass-fed meat and especially as she wanted a decent amount of variation.

I remember when we talked about this with my mother. She said that she only eats meat. And my mother asks a very short time after if she wants dessert 😊
