i tried the desloratadine along with doxycycline as indicated by the paper for several months - i did not notice any benefit over straight doxy

Disulfiram can remain in your body for a few weeks, so there isn't much benefit to pulsing it, unless you want to do a month at a time.

Another effect that I've noticed with several antibiotics is that borrelia seems to absorb the drug, then a few days later dies and releases it. I suspect this mechanism is behind some of the accidental overdoses of dsf.

As for bartonella, the real difficulty is that it's resistant to many antibiotics, and the few things that it tends not to be resistant to are all risky due to side effects.

Maybe? I noticed with the delayed herxing, or if I would herx for another reason like summer heat, that I would get diarrhea as if I had taken antibiotics. So I suspect the antibiotics were there. I also noticed effects of disulfiram or valproate weeks after I stopped taking these. Also a weird effect where occasionally my cortisol or testosterone would come up really high on a blood test. Borrelia seems to accumulate all sorts of things.

This is also a risk with borrelia. There aren't as many things that piss off Lyme, but I've seen this sort of aggressive response to claritin. 10 mg claritin (loratadine) isn't nearly enough to kill borrelia, but it makes it mad. When I take claritin, the bacteria become active and release some kind of toxin that makes me sweat and feel nervous and not sleep well. I've found that when the bacteria are busy doing this, antibiotics like minocycline or azithromycin will easily kill it, and then the 'toxic' reaction stops and I get a regular herx where I feel sick and tired.

Sida along with houttuynia, isatis, cryptolepis and alchornea won't kill Borrelia nor Bartonella. I've taken them all together at high doses (at times 2-3x higher than recommended by Buhner) and they didn't get rid of anything after 3 years. They just slow down progression of the disease.

@Quin: I appreciate your input on valtrex/mino combo. Having parsed a number of forums it looks like those that report progress in killing bart conclude that you need to use something to piss off Bart first, then shove in something that actually kills it.
