What's the compounded med? Did they do testing to figure out why your thyroid is low? Like testing for Hashimoto's or iodine deficiency?

Some people use ashwagandha alone to treat hypothyroidism, so I would suggest asking your doctor before combining it with another medicine that impacts the thyroid. It's possible that using both would raise your thyroid hormones too high and cause more problems.

That's jacked-up cortisol feeling is just terrible - I have been there, and am sorry you are dealing with it! Addressing that from a nervous system angle was what helped me most, and my endocrine balance improved as a result. I hope you find relief soon!

First,To do this the right way - It’s best to have a full conventional medicine thyroid panel testAnd then a “natural medicine” 24 hour four-point cortisol saliva test.

Your doctor needs to discuss these levels of both so you fully understand what you’re doing as a team.

Having your cortisol raging is a terrible feeling I’ve been there many times and yes you can treat that with natural supplements as they don’t last long in your body, so no harm done.

Actual thyroid medicine, the real stuff, is either natural thyroid hormone from pigs or synthetic thyroid hormone. Since it’s actualy adding hormone to your body it takes a while to take affect and it stays in your body for Up to six weeks.

Thyroid and adrenaline glands do, to some extent affect each other, notice I said some extent.

The compounded medicine the doctor was referring to is most likely compounded natural thyroid medicine which is usually the ultimate thyroid replacement hormone for people who are not getting good results from the standard thyroid replacement hormone. It is the same pig thyroid powder that is in natural thyroid such as armor brand, then put in a capsule with the filler of your choice. The fillers in natural thyroid medicine can have an affect on different people the way the Medicine is absorbed into your bloodstream.

Not everybody needs natural thyroid medicine. Believe me if I could get by with just synthetic thyroid replacement like common Synthroid that I used to use , I would do it again, but unfortunately it just doesn’t work very well for me.

As far as adrenaline supporting herbal supplements, As well as herbal supplements in general affecting the thyroid gland, it’s best to read up on it. It seems to be different per person that’s an ongoing challenge I’ve undertaken my whole adult life.

I do not want to overwhelm you at this point since you do not know what test the doctor ordered or what the results are but if you do have one of the two autoimmune thyroid antibodies in the higher levels, going gluten-free can help this, even Eliminate it with some people. this is not stated enough as it is still not commonly known.
