So I found my last appointment notes that Dr J wrote.
I may post some of them here - could be helpful

I saw Rachel. She is a PA. I've only had my initial visit and subsequent phone consultation thus far, but I am extremely satisfied with her care.

Notes from my last appt.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATION

INTERCURRENT EVENTS & ACTION ITEMS:
Veteran of long-term oral therapy - on maintenance for 18-24 months.
Some recalcitrant areas - see below.

Overall major improvement.
Known to have small thread-like syrinx from T4 through T12 measuring 1 mm to a
maximum of 1.4 mm - no real neurologic correlate.
Dysautonomia - improvement in POTS without any specific supplement therapy.
Still concerned about memory regeneration - on a good neuro-protective program with curcumin,
vitamin C, quercetin - add PEA 4 mg at once starting, going up to 2 or 3 times a day or 800 mg twice
daily - will send literature on portal.
Refill current maintenance program but cut Tindamax and Diflucan to 1 tablet each day Thursday
and Friday - 5-day wash-out - hopefully this will help.

Has actually taken extended breaks and done well with this - good sign.
Periscapular pain - myofascial in origin (almost certainly).
Has had some limited prolotherapy.
Husband will massage the area with some temporary benefit.
Still working as a chef's assistant in an elder home - 5 hour days 3 days a week - very gratifying, but
does have some endurance limitations.
Needs COVID protection - not anxious to take the vaccine.
Did talk about ivermectin a few months ago and will fax prescription to her Pharmacy.

Otherwise, either call in prescriptions or rewrite Ceftin, rifabutin, Minocin Monday, Wednesday and
Friday, I week on and 3-4 weeks off - also rewrite Tindamax - okay with Diflucan.
Fortified program with cryptolepis 30 drops twice daily - patient familiar - excellent persister
Bartonella function, also some Babesia function.

Sleeping well but waking up with sweats - not heavy but probably reflecting some sympathetic surge
in the morning.
Family history of colon cancer (mother) - patient vigilant with colonoscopy but skipped last year due
to COVID.
Did have adenomatous polyp removed 2019 and will be seeing the same physician in the next few weeks - excellent monitoring.
Also monitoring mammography and will be doing study follow up later on.

Unfortunately, her favorite primary care physician is retiring.
Would really like to see the patient on site, although she would have to come across the country
(3000 plus miles) from Vancouver, really does not have people in the area - would like to see
nonetheless at least once in the next year and patient will discuss this with her husband and try to
make the effort.

SUBJECTIVE: Today I am happy to speak with L who has been a long-term patient and who really has
not been on site for a number of years. She is a veteran of the JSC oral program and her major issues are
listed in the event list.
She is high-functioning and remarks that the Northwest is having a record heat wave with temperatures of 40
degrees centigrade with people dying - she and her husband are able to avoid this by going to the mountains
and getting some swimming in.

Does maintenance protocol mean you have no symptoms?

Not necessarily - as I moved on to the Maintenance stage with a few lingering symptoms.
If you’ve gone through the protocols and you still have a few more symptoms - it could be that active infection is gone and the leftover symptoms just need more time to heal.or it’s damage?

My morning mild sweats have improved and my shoulder blade pain has as well.

We will see what happens on my next round of abx.

I would say after the Bart/Persisters protocol.
I felt so bad on it - so maybe just stopping it - I would have felt somewhat better anyway.

I took about 30 drops 2x of cryptolepis in the last year until I finished off a 2 oz bottle. I had no herxing from it.

Does Dr J keep people on cryptolepis for long periods? Stand alone herb or with other herbs? I thought cryptolepis was not supposed to be taken long term and that it was harmful to good gut flora.“

All Dr J’s protocols are pulsed.
So the Cryptolepis would have been pulsed as well.
I believe I was on it when I was on the bart/Persisters protocol (which followed about five months of babesia treatment.)
So I’m thinking it would have been taken daily - one week (5 days) followed with 3 weeks off) - like the abx were.

Crypto for Babesia but he says it’s a good general microbial.

“ Stephen generally recommends the use of a Sida acuta, Alchornea cordifolia, and Cryptolepis sanguinolenta blend for the treatment of babesia these days: ¼-1/2 tsp 3x daily. You could as well do ¼ tsp of each of these three tinctures 3x daily. These three tinctures can be purchased from woodlandessence.com. You can also use just one of those herbs; his first choice is Sida acuta, second is Cryptolepis sanguinolenta. Stephen no longer recommends artemisinin or artemisia for babesia infections. It can work, but whatever you are treating, Sida acuta will work better, especially for babesia or bartonella. “

Not sure who “said” the above - it was on the Buhner Healing Lyme website but as we know he doesn’t monitor the site.
