I'm sure this will come as no surprise to anyone here, but Pfizer now admits that 5 days of paxlovid may be insufficient to completely clear a covid infection.

SARS-Cov2 has been found in the epithelial cells of the colon many months after patients have no symptoms. It is still there, the people just don't have enough immune response to clear it. Long COVID could just be an extended active infection.

Yes, that's the problem.

I took mepron rather than paxlovid, but had the same problem where the symptoms would come back when I stopped taking it. It took around 6 weeks to completely clear the infection.

I didn't get many GI symptoms, but I did have itchy eyes. I suspect the virus was hiding there.

SARS-Cov2, like many pathogens we face, greatly reduces our ability to recycle ascorbic acid. As the ascorbic acid levels drop, so does our ability to perform redox reactions. This greatly increases oxidative stress which we already have too much of.

I'm well aware of the ascorbic acid effect, as well as vitamin B12, but I didn't notice this any more with SARS-CoV-2 than with other infections like Lyme or bart.

The typical symptom was increased homocysteine and low carnitine on a blood test (since carnitine synthesis relies on vitamin C and B12) but occasionally when it got real bad I would get some skin rashes (scurvy).
