Started Back on Hydroxychloroquine and Feel Bad - Herx Possible??

On day three of 200 mg of Hydroxy and have started back with headache (which I haven't had in 10 days) and body pain, even where I usually don't feel it.

Can Hydroxychloroquine alone cause a herx? Was going to also add in Doxycycline today but now have decided to wait.

I do think the hydroxy can cause a herx.

Dr H prescribes hydroxychloroquine for treating Lyme and Co’s.
And as you know, he is one of the top Lyme docs.

Which infection(s) are you taking the Hydroxychloroquine for running wild?

That was what I thought remembering seeing, Girlie. Thanks for clarification.

Rainy- I'm actually taking the hydroxy for Sjogrens Syndrome. Tried it before and also had a similar herx reaction with headaches,m fatigue and body pain. My unknown is whether it is caused by a herx to the Lyme/Bart or simply I do not tolerate it well. Didn't want to add on Doxycycline and just add to the situation, but I feel I need to treat both the autoimmune and the infection.

one thing at a time and waiting for things to settle in between is a good plan RW - that way you get to learn how each affects you better - and avoids overloading the system - when the first thing is obviously doing something.

I had read that Plaquenil was first prescribed along with Macrolide-class antibiotics (clarithromycin, zith, etc) to increasing cellular penetration by improving pH levels. I also heard that some LLMDs thought it was a mild cyst buster. I've used it many different times over the past 11 years and always found it quite tolerable without harsh side effects. Just get your eyes checked annually.

My bad running wild, I was actually aware you were taking it for Sjogrens but my Lyme brain wasn't making the connection when I wrote that reply.

My brain has a hard time functioning, and I don't think it's Lyme smile. No need to apologize. Everyone ends up with so many problems it can't be expected to remember each person's. Your helpful thoughts and ideas are always appreciated.
