i am with you on the bias towards exercise - i also used to do a lot of mountain biking, squash, hill walking, snowboarding, gym etc - i actually wonder if i had this infection for a long time and this lifestyle was keeping me well.
i do agree though that you cannot exercise your way out of it - especially anything aerobic really sets me back - i can walk 3-4 miles at a decent pace - but if i try to run for even 100yards i will be super fatigued the next day - its crazy how sensitive to that i am.
i do feel exercise is a useful as part of an overall treatment protocol / lifestyle though - i find i can do strength training type exercises - and tolerate these OK within reason - so am doing a 30mins workout with weights each 2nrd or 3rd day now ( had to work op to this gradually from doing 20 body weight only squats initially) and can feel it making me stronger over time and fatigue reducing
