Has anyone been diagnosed w/ MS and taken MS medications…Lyme symptoms improved? Such as balance issues, memory and nerve tingling? If so, which medication did you take?

I read on here some have taken Minocycline.

I take minocycline but I don’t have MS.

I have read though - that MS is one of the diseases people get diagnosed with - when it’s really Lyme disease.

minocycline is one of the common antibiotics used to treat Lyme and co-infections.

it is also one of the tetracycline class antibiotics which are known to have anti-inflammatory properties that could impact any chronic disease condition ( as all chronic disease involves inflammatory pathways)

but as above - MS is often misdiagnosed in people with Lyme disease by conventional doctors - since it can mimic many of the same symptoms and can appear very similar via MRI scans etc

cases of sero-negative neuro borreliosis have been recorded in the literature.

cerebrospinal fluid antibodies or culture may be a useful differential in such cases.

Thank you Garzie for the info. I just want be able to walk without a walker….look and be semi normal. This is why I was curious if anyone took MS medication and had success with symptoms since Lyme is so similar to MS…or even Lyme be the root cause of MS.

My LLDM has me on so many pills…62 a day!

I have Lyme and 10 years of mold exposure and balance is my first and main symptom, and slurred speech. It started mild 6 years ago and has progressed although many other symptoms I had, left with treatments, but not these.

When I was very toxic in the beginning I was given minocycline and I couldn’t tolerate it.

The reason minocycline is used for MS is that it is anti-inflammatory and suppresses the immune response.

It does the same when taken for Lyme disease, and I found that suppressing my immune system was not a desirable effect over the long term.

Sdarrah…do you use a walker for your balance issues?

I also had mold exposure most my life, 44 yrs young) at various levels. Our home was professionally sprayed to kill all mold and mold spores.

A thing I noticed with minocycline is that it would suppress some of the herx symptoms for about 24 hours. When it wore off, I would get more herxing. Also it made me more susceptible to viral infections, and I got cold, flu, and covid repeatedly.

I took minocycline because it was one of the few antibiotics that bartonella was not resistant to, and there wasn't a good alternative.

Not in my home I can walk slowly but always use a transport chair outside home with husband pushing it.

Sdarrah…I sure hope your situation changes for the better. When I try to walk, feels like I’m going against a very strong wind storm. Also, my knees and legs feel stiff.

i was misdiagnosed with ms . bv has me walking unassisted and my nerves are finally healing. bartonella and mycoplasma treatment helped the most . please read www.cpnhelp.org and dr strattons wifes struggles or read about the pioneer Pat Wagner and her amazing story . even dr wahls did it with minocycline and diet for a few years ... please dont let them give u immunosuppressant drugs it will hurt in the long run !
