Extreme Skin Issues: I really need help

At little background info: I have been treating lyme, bart, babs and fungus for about five and a half years now. I have used numerous treatments including antibiotics, herbals, UVLrx. My most recent treatment was disulfiram which gave be relief from my worst lingering symptom; air hunger. However it brought out horrible skin issues. I have acne on my back, chest and even neck....little on my face oddly. I stopped the disulfiram after (8 months of increasing) only reaching 187mg for a few weeks. I have now been off disulfiram for just over three weeks. I am pulsing rifampin, clindamycin and minocyline because my doctor wanted to hit bart again and I wanted at least small breaks from antibiotics.

Any ways, my skin is horrible. The acne is hard white almost sandlike stuff but larger than sand. The thing is, though it slowed down after stopping the disulfiram, it has not stopped yet. I am also getting purple scarring from it. My skin use to heal very quickly. Now I get scars easily and they are dark purple/brown. I know I probably wont get answers but I just want to know why this is happening. Do you guys think I should quit antibiotics all together until my skin heals? Is the acne and scarring a sign of coinfection die off? Is is just inflammation that needs to calm down? I am taking a detox clay internally right now to help with detox because I'm sure my body has issues detoxing.....but what more can I do so that I don't have to spend the summer wearing sweatshirts to cover up my neck?..I'm just so distraught. Has anyone else had these symptoms? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I personally chose to keep going. hi Wisco woman, based on the fact that you are taking antibiotics to target in Bartonella I assume the skin issues you describe are due to the die off and the inflammation it creates in the body. Bartonella is known to cause the skin symptoms you describe. Mycoplasma can also cause hair, skin and nail problems.

I can understand how this problem would be frustrating to deal with in the summer months. The decision to stop treatment of course is up to you and your doctor. One thing to keep in mind though is that while taking a break is certainly understandable and necessary for some you are also suspending the treatment process. I have also experienced the same thing as at times the day off symptoms for me were simply intolerable. But at these times my practitioner would remind me that I was prolonging the treatment process by doing so. I understand, it is a difficult decision.

P.S. I find it interesting that regardless of treatment utilized patterns can be observed. For example, infection targeted will produce inflammatory reaction that results in symptoms known to be caused by the particular infection.n or infections

Astroman I forgot to mention that I am on Fluconazole as well. This is not the cause of the acne due to having it before starting the Fluconazole. However maybe if I take it for a longer period of time it will help. (I am starting to wonder if my air hunger is related to fungal issues more than babesia at this point)

Margarita, the skin issues are not from the current bart treatment due to the issues starting months ago before I started the rifampin, clindamycin and minocycline. The skin issues started back in Dec when I was on Disulfiram alone. The skin stuff got worst and worst from Dec to May when I quit the Disulfiram. The skin stuff is just still lingering and in the mean time my doc wanted be to pulse those three mentioned antibiotics. That's not to say that the bart treatment isn't adding to my skin issues though. That's why I thought maybe a break from everything for a while might be best. I get what you are saying about prolonging treatment by stopping. However, I have been treating lyme, bart and babs for 5 and a half years now so I don't like just pushing through treatments anymore. I use to do that in hopes of seeing dramatic results. My progress has been such a slow process however, and I have pushed through some pretty intense treatment plans without stopping.

Garzie, A bit of encouragement to leave behind....My air hunger has been my number one issue for years now and (cross my fingers and say a prayer) it seems to be a lot better as of lately. So maybe the disulfiram has done that. Maybe the antifungals have also helped too idk. But this kind of goes with what you said about skin issues arising when people are making progress. I have also read the gritty bumps post before. Some of what is discussed sounds like mine skin issue. But the slow to heal purple,brown scars are even more peculiar to me. Maybe its just due to overall inflammation in my body right now.

Thanks rainy. I'll look into the ivermectin cream. What issue specifically do you think its related to? Lyme/co die off? Parasites? Fungus?
