Red Light Therapy Herx Possibility

Yes, I have had massive herxes from my red light devices (I have 2). I usually have to take binders, and it will take several days to clear the herx. I can only do a couple minutes at a time, 20 might kill me. When I first started I would get terrible Bartonella headaches and I would start to sweat and instantly stink from Bart.

I have not tried that therapy but do use a therapy that does not involve ingesting anything. My therapy is non invasive yet I have experienced a herx in response to each treatment. I have learned not to underestimate the power of these therapies. Best to not overdo it especially if you have been sensitive to other treatments as well.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. One of the questions had concerned the local use. In my case, I became tried after using it on my feet and the headache after putting it on head.

So many people put down the ability of machines like this and rife, but I’ve read too much that say they work to not believe it can cause a reaction.


Today l backed off on time on my head and didn’t have headache. Same time on feet and I felt off afterwards. Hoping it all do something for neuropathy.

I worked with a practitioner for a while who used infrared light pads on her clients (all tick-borne illness folks) and she reported that lots of them herxed. I don't think the pads especially affected me in terms of being antimicrobial, but I definitely felt worse for several hours after using them because of the heat (flaring MCAS).

saraeli - What kind of pads were they? Mine just go on my feet for 20 minutes each and then on my head for 10.

Margarita - I agree. It's been hard enough to get the medical community just to believe some in Lyme. To me, that seems to be getting better with younger doctors, but the treatment is still insufficient even when they do buy into it. Recently, I've had doctors who really believe in chronic Lyme, which surprised me.

"Rigid patterns of belief" is a great way of putting it.

Go to you tube and use their website search for "Alex Fergus". His reviews can be helpful but most helpful is his information testing the power (mW/cm2) of red LED lights on the market with a professional device, not a solar device from Amazon. His list is extensive but not complete. for instance he does not review the Red Light Man devices which are good for beginners because they are small and affordable. The Red Light Man does publish wavelengths and power for each device plus a lot of information about how red LED lights work.

There are a lot of websites, including Amazon, selling lights that are so low in energy they will not have an effect. If someone with Lyme has no results with red led lights then they should find out if the power is too low. I am lucky there were only a few companies selling these devices when I became interested because I am sure I would bought one from Amazon and never known anything about wavelengths or intensities/
Lyme disease damages our mitochondria so that ATP (responsible for cell energy) production is messed up (is that why we are so tired?) Red led light stimulates our mitochondria to produce more ATP/cell energy. More cell energy should not make anyone tired or feel sick. The only negative is that it can be used too much because it has a biphasic response meaning after a certain point it does nothing and can reverse the positive effect.
You might wonder as I did, if it stimulates our mitochondria in our body in a positive way, could it also do the same for the spirochetes and parasites in our body? I checked and found they do not have mitochondria. Neither does any bacteria or fungus or viruses. Hope this helps.
Just thought of something... if your cells' energy increases and enables your body to fight the spirochetes, parasites, bacteria, etc., I guess it would cause a herx. Just don't give up until you are sure you have a trustworthy device
Also some of the NFL teams have recently affiliated with red LED light LED companies to use for the players. Joov and Bioflex. A lot of athletes have been using them for years. The science is from NASA. It has really helped my 15 year old German Shepherd who has Degenerative Myelopathy, but veterinarians will tell you that "there is no effective treatment for DM". I've learned more about how to help my dogs from Facebook groups than from vets

We are talking about buying one soon. Likely this one if we get a reply that the emf is low enough. Mostly for my girlfriends energy levels, but I want to test it on my left knee and eye health.
