has anyone ever gotten cured from babesia?

In general, Babesia is the easiest of the 3 B’s to eradicate (though many report Babesia Duncani is much harder and requires a longer treatment).

My best friend had Babesia Microti and beat it with 2 months of Mepron and Azithromycin followed by several months of Malarone and Zith (may have also used clarithromycin). I cleared up my Babesia with 5 months of Malarone/Zith. I find Malarone is much easier to tolerate, and it also is a combination of 2 antimalarials. It’s also generally much cheaper than Mepron.

Since Babesia lives in red blood cells and RBC’s have a lifespan of 90-120 days, you need to treat for 4.5-5 months to be completely sure. It is typically treated with either Mepron or Malarone plus a macrolide.

Solaris what were your symptoms? When I first got the tick bite I did 9 months or malarone rifampin and minocycline- that was like over 6 years ago- would that have done it if I had it then? I dont even know if the llmd I was seeing at the time knew which co infections I had or was just guessing. he did a lot of bloodwork but I dont remember doing coinfections testing.
But the breahting trouble started actually during the abx and then has just gotten worse over the years for me.

just two pills? I have not heard of it. How can it work in such a small dose? I will look it up is it new? wow just googled it so can you tell me more? what are the dangers/side effects. Does t cure a long term chronic babesia infection quickly too? How studied is it?

i was diagnosed Babesia positive by Igenex . my dr that follows dr Horwitz gave me ceftin 500 mg twice daily plus dapsone and i am up to 50 slowly starting to fell better.

I treated Babesia via DrJ and I’m pretty sure it’s gone.
I used Mepron with two antibiotics for six months.

ive been treating babesia now for 11 wks with mepron and azithromycin and no real improvements yet… my llmd wants to add minocycline in but according to drugs.com any tetracycline reduces the levels of mepron in the blood so that doesnt make sense to me

I went looking for my paperwork but can’t find it.
Pretty sure it was Ceftin and mino.
(I think initially I was prescribed bactrim and mino but I ended up with a few “lesions” and it freaked me out - was concerned about SJS so I asked to change.
