Lymes in gut like Bell’s palsy and Crohn’s disease

Anyone had gut Lyme? I’m doing a $1900 blood test to figure out if this way I have paralyzed gut mobility, blood, constipation, fatigue, painful feet.

Not sure what you mean by "gut Lyme" exactly, but tick-borne disease caused me dysautonomia, including gastroparesis (sometimes called "Bell's palsy of the gut"). For me it was the upper half of the GI tract that had the least motility. Never had any blood, but there was a lot of pain and inability to eat.

I see you have ulcerative colitis. Are you exploring tick-borne disease as a possible underlying cause? Are you working with a Lyme-literate doctor? Which lab are you using to test?

I can't recommend any one. I've never used IGeniX, for instance, but I would I suppose only cuz I like their founder, who has since died..Maybe. Any one who tells you they can diagnose you I'd personally steer clear of. BTW, I do the same for ANY clinician that says they can cure me sight unseen.

In short, if they sound too good to be true, they likely are.

Hey, I see you've been around Lyme world for 15 or so years. You probably know the salient stuff by heart. Look to your bands for guidance, provided you can get a WB. ,Also test as best you can - I realize the limitations - for other TBD's.IMHO.Things like Babs and Bartonella. Coinfections are a growing concern. The problem here is that testing for these is also commonly suspect.

IgeneX is one of the better labs

the issue is no labs are perfect for lyme - because a perfect test has not been developed by any commercial company yet.

typical test for most infectious agents eg |AIDS are better than 99% accurate - so we generally think of testing as black or white - you are positive or negative.

whereas with lyme - sensitivity ( ability of the test to detect it if it is in fact there ) is somewhere between 20 and 70% - depending on which study you read - and how they measure it etc - and that is for the best well documented labs - vibrant is not in that category - v little data published on its test validation in peer

there are many ins and outs of testing for lyme but this is what it boils down to - all commercial tests have severe issues with sensitivity

ref gut symptoms
of the co-infections - bartonella in particular is associated with many different gut symptoms
-gastritis
-colitis
-general inflammation throughout the gut ( may lead to leaky gut)
-problems with the liver and bile flow ( also affects digestion)
-sensitivity and overactivity to many foods - poss a result of inflammation and leaky gut
-SIBO - possibly caused by susceptibility due to the above

i have bartonella and have bloating, gas, discomfort etc after every meal
the best approach i have found to manage this - while treating the infection as that clearly the root cause - is a strict wholefood ketogenic diet - this cuts my gut symptoms by around half and also improved my overall energy function and pain -
this has been more effective for me than any supplement or treatment for the gut - and i have tried many
