People obviously think different. This reflects on everything in their lives. Ive been told Im a complex thinker in real life (whatever, lol !!), although I write fairly simple. I'll admit I know people who do "minimal thinking" compared to myself. This seemed kind of odd to me in my younger years. Now I know thats just how some people are.
I also assume people are self aware of their decision and critical thinking capabilities or limitations, that could be a wrong assumption on my part.
Not everything in health is concrete. Half this tick infection treatment is just guessing. People guess here everyday, results will vary. It depends what your comfortable guessing at.
Genes... some matter MORE. Some might never. Many you can do nothing for, some ...you can, to some extent.
Does MTHFR concern me personally? Not really. Is that particular gene over hyped? For me it is. For others with double copies? I wouldnt know.
However, just two examples that I do pay attention to:
Does having "blood "clotting genes concern me? Yes. Can I fix it? No. Am I more likely to keep an eye
open for symptoms now? Most definitely, since it runs in my family and I went to ER with a clot myself. l now know to not sit in a chair not moving for a ling time, that was news to me.
Liver Phaze II genes ? Well....limiting alcohol matters. Conventional medicine even agrees. And that could explain why I herxed for five months.
And how did I first discover those above? We know how. The way i see it- I will spend more $ in my life than i've ever had to count to, so whats another $150 spent on my health?
I seldom say never, (with in reason) thats how my brain works. Because of that, my brain is NOT wired to only find answers "right now this minute" - be it health or other research discoveries. But ive had jobs in life that require both, from varying mechanics (answers needed now) to a wide spectrum of science lab research (answers now and later).
I find it difficult how some people in society only think on one side or the other, and dont look at the "big picture" (all of it).
Technology is obviously both good and bad, depending what you do with it. Sometimes what seems of minimal importance now, will be of major importance later.***If there's any fault with gene testing, its not the test, but what people do or dont do with the results. Its their thinking and /or what they hope to achieve with the information. ****
"But people want a simple test that rewards them with a simple action - "oh, you have this gene mutation - take this pill" - I never looked at it that way because I knew it would not be that simple.
People new to this will soon discover, its not that simple as health becomes a lifelong learning journey.
