Feeling defeated vertigo again

So my long slow painful chronic never ending onslaught of health problems which I am trying so slowly to treat again…
Just started herbs. Knotweed and cats claw
Been to three chiros on threee weeks . One a week for eight weeks.
Branched out to a massage therapist. Signed up for five visits for next week. That’s money and time and effort…

Well my worst most feared most emotionally painful ( besides anxiety and depression) happen again this morning while laying on side in bed.
I clutch my kids and tell them why I’m crying tears pouring out my eyes… I know so dramatic. But truth is it terrifies me and is a nightmare. It happened 5 months ago . Vertigo. Brief but horrid.

I have an aunt w chronic vertigo! How the he’ll is that even possible I hate this world.

Sorry for the vent post.

Am I taking the slow painful road that will never get me anywhere? Is there a shorter road to relief and a life of less misery and fear and not knowing if you can plan on getting your kids to all the soccer games and practices and still manage to get better and get some income….?

Mine was to treat with herbs and maybe add in abx with my local LLND and Lyme herbalist as support. They can support with treatment plans but what is really going to defeat this beast?

What’s causing my issues? A chronic misaligned spine? No,
I went to bed last night telling my kids my back and neck were feeling good and that I wanted to go for a hike and start jogging today. Now this.

i had bad room spinning vertigo for about 9 months so i can empathize. its like being drunk without any of the fun parts . some of it was structual , tmj and atlas chiro helped a bit but the inner ear is pretty complex . the liquid vessel which gives us a sense of position has tiny little hairs on the walls with sensitive nerve endings that tell us if were upside down / upside right or spinning as children love to do . for me bartonella /mold and borrelia had reaked havoc on my nerves . a short stint on a antibiotic drove the pathogens further in on the nerve disrupting the signal . so i used a three prong offensive, internal bart tx using high dose zhang herbs , outside and back of ear with diluted oil of oregano, and garlic oil eardrops and bee venom drops inside the ear . i did this for months before the nerves healed enough . nerves can heal very slowly when given a chance . this is just my take and path your may look different. remember all pain is temporary...even chronic pain...

Yes, I had world spinning vertigo in the 90s on my Lyme disease was just starting to get bad. I was not treating Lyme disease then, sometimes vertigo it happened twice a month sometimes once every three months. Whenever it happened it affected the rest of the day. I had to lay down on the floor so I wouldn’t puke.

So I don’t have any answers for you just to let you know you’re not alone. This does not happen to me anymore but I didn’t did not get treated for Lyme disease till 7 years ago. So why I did not get it in between those two time frames and the fact that it just went away on its own has me puzzled.

But since it went away on its own, I’m sure that happens to others also, so that is good

Wish I had a good answer for you, Lightlfe. The frustration is understood.

Yes, vertigo was worst I went through with Lyme. Wasn’t constant, but when it hit, life was crazy. I missed so much time with my kids, but when better I’d coach them to try and make up for lost times. Hope this passes and you are able to get the hikes and jogging in.

Oh, my thyroid was also trashed back then and I was not getting any thyroid supplemental hormone treatment for it so that might have been the problem, I don’t know.

So if you are or in the future experience thyroid problems - it is something you have to experiment with. A doctor that is not open To experimenting with different thyroid levels is not a doctor worth going to.

On another note there are more than a few supplements and herbs that can interfere with thyroid hormone production. If that’s the case then obviously it’s just temporary while you’re using whatever supplement that is

I know of a Lyme patient who suffered with vertigo so badly she was on her couch for 3 years. She treated using bio magnetic pair therapy. Which is what I am utilizing currently. She is now training to become a biomagnetic practitioner. I hope her story serves as inspiration for you. I know it does for me.

What are you currently taking to treat Lyme and CO’s? (Which herbs?)
Edit - I see you mentioned them.
How long have you been taking herbs?
If the herbs don’t work with a reasonable time - then I would suggest going the antibiotics route….

You said you just started the JK and cat's claw. Could the vertigo be a herxing symptom for you? That has happened to me before.

Bodywork also has been a trigger for vertigo for me at times, especially massage and anything that can make a lot of things circulate that were not circulating before. Is it possible that you've had too much body work in too short a time?

I know a handful of people who have had alarming neurological issues (including vertigo) in the weeks following a COVID infection. Any chance you have had a virus in the past month or so?

Vertigo is basically the worst thing. I'm so sorry you are dealing with it. Have you tried the Epley maneuver? Do you have nausea remedies (like the seasickness wristbands or ginger) so that it doesn't bring on as much nausea?

I know it can be so hard to envision a future when you have days like this. Your feelings are understandable! Be patient with yourself, and remember that this symptom will end.

Vertigo was her worst symptom. I was introduced to her through our practitioner during a particularly rough patch or me. I wanted to quit treatment as the herxing was too much. She explained how bad off she was and that of everything she tried this therapy worked. That was all I needed to hear. Her pep talk convinced me to continue and she is off the couch learning how to help others with Lyme.

I know a retired biological dds who told me in his long career he cured vertigo 4 times by finding a dental cavitation and treating-I think it was at the wisdom tooth site-but I may be wrong. Either way you may want to get checked by a biological dds or at least get a dental thermogrophy

I’m hoping your all are having a ok time with it all now.

Ive been taking the herbs for a week. Full dosage about two days

I only had it for a minute this morning while rolling over. As day went on a headache progressed in back of my skull. I am thinking my cervical vertebrae is out of position or hitting on a nerve.

I am afraid to go to chiro tommarow although that might be the way to go. It’s just that I’ve been nine times in eight weeks.

We will see . Trying to lay without rolling.

Woke up with more vertigo after a night filled with night sweats….
Heading to a chiro shortly.
Bruhner doesn’t mention vertigo in his lyme book so it scares me as to think it’s not common among us and it’s another separate issue.

sounds like its pretty common - a number of people here have experienced it

the thing with lyme etc al is they effect everybody differently - and so each person can have a different symptom picture - that doesn't mean the same treatments will not work though.

Sara made a good point that since its in the first week of taking herbs - these could be triggering a flare of symptoms or even new symptoms as part of the herx reaction - this is a common thing - and some people are just particularly sensitive to herbs in terms of herx like reactions- esp in the beginning

you could try stepping down the dose for a few days to see if things settle - before stepping back up more gradually
i have had to start some of the herbs at 1/20th of the target dose or less to avoid unmanageable herx like reactions

vertigo was one of my biggest problems while dealing with lyme. I am technically in remission now, I was very very ill with half my time bed bound and most my time house bound so to be where I am now today we consider it remission though I am not 100%.

I had vertigo before I knew it was lyme. so much of it was due to POTS, and I still have some dizzy spells daily, very minor compared to vertigo. but just where suddenly I feel as if things are moving around me a tiny bit. ive learned to try to ignore it but sometimes I just have to go lay down a minute. this dizziness I am dealing with now is almost completely reprieved by chiropractic. or cranial sacral. so it is definitely structural.

my cranial Dr is Lyme literate and he has soooo many patients with similar issues. apparently the lymphatic fluid builds up around your brain if not kept flowing regularly. so doing self lymphatic massages can also help.

something else that triggers my vertigo is overstimulation such as fluorescent lighting, movement (busy crowds), loud noises; high amounts of EMFs (if im in the city or near tons if wifi too long); and lack of sleep.

I would def agree that herxing could be a huge contributor.

I also forgot to mention that eyes can have a lot to do with it as well. my cranial bones are sometimes so off center that they push pressure on certain areas of my eyes which cause them to either see incorrectly or to have overcompensate for what they are seeing. cranial sacral really helps with this. half the time I can’t even wear my perscriptuon glasses

Hi and Thankyou sooo much all of you for your input and support. If anyone checks back… I thought I’d update.
I went to chiro and he did the less dramatic clicker ( not a cracking ) in my upper vert. He said the atlas was totally compressed and stuck. So it seems structural and feels that way. But… I can’t help but wonder and connect the dots that last time I had this structural induced vertigo right after starting herbs . I went to chiro for relief…And vertigo was one of my first symptoms… 15 plus years ago and what started off my chiropractic journey. So my Lyme and chiro journey started at same time.
Which brings me to the question is it possible for the infections change your structure just through a herx reaction…. Loosening and laxity in tendons..
over thinking but the coincidence is just too much paired with the night sweats.
I’m prob not making sense. Amazing how caught up in our own mysteries we have to become.

I agree that herxing can definitely change your structure to an extent. my lyme literate cranial sacral therapist says for sure this can happen. he has helped me structurally in many ways, I guess the lymph can get basically clogged and swell - this can happen even without visual swelling - I had it happen so severely to the lymph fluid around my brain that I was having seizures. I also had it happen so badly at the base of my skull that I actually did have visual swelling in my face to the point I got a double chin… the toxins from herxing cause this supposedly… for me keeping up with detoxing and cold contrast helps the most. best wishes

Glad your not experiencing that anymore. And it’s nice you have a therapist on hand who is knowledgeable about Lyme etc.

It seems as I can not hold the adjustments as I’ve gotten at least one a week for eight or nine weeks. I feel good for a day or so. Then back to feeling off in upper very atlas axis. I then decided I need to work on muscle facia tendons etc
. I am now going massage and really hoping to excersize agsin someday soon. . But the instability is a constant set back. That’s where I am hoping treating infections can help as well.

please keep us posted. I also cannot hold a chiro adjustment for more than about 1 day. I can’t afford to go more than 3 x a month becuz of cranial as well. I wonder if that is a lyme thing as well
