I do think there’s less chance of a bad reaction to the drops as opposed to oral. On the other hand, it was the eye drop form of Ciprofloxacin that I had a reaction to years ago.
When I had my eyes dilated, they put this solution in my eyes that I immediately tasted. So, eye drops can end up going through the tear duct and being swallowed. So, you probably have less to worry about
with your ear.
Side Note: It's irritating when doctors say things like "I think you'll be fine" -- often based on nothing. Sure, easy for you to say, as you're not the test subject! I guess they have to say that, but, if I were a doctor, I wouldn't be so cavalier.
