What do you think about this study?
I am trying to get to the bottom of it.
I know this wasn't directed at me, but I hope you don't mind if I contribute a few thoughts. I've had a few sessions of Biomagnetic Pair Therapy (several years ago), so I've been following this thread with interest.
As for the paper by Dr. Frank, under the heading "Biomagnetic Pair Therapy," it states the following:
"Biomagnetic Pair Therapy (BPT)—developed by Isaac Goiz Durán, MD, over the last 30 years—has proven to be beneficial for addressing a wide variety of clinical illnesses, including infectious diseases.3"(emphasis mine)
So, I scrolled down to the corresponding reference:
"3. Hílu R, Goiz Durán I, Mendoza Castelán G. Biomagnetic Pair Fungi, Viruses, Bacteria and Parasites. Méico City, México: Universidad Autónoma Chapingo; 2010."However, when I clicked the "Google Scholar" link, the source document was not found. I tried a manual search for it, both in Google Scholar, PubMed, and regular Google search, but I wasn't able to locate it. Thus, one is unable to evaluate the claim by Dr. Frank that Biomagnetic Pair Therapy has been "proven" to be beneficial for the conditions cited.
As for the "Medical Acupuncture" journal, I went to
https://research.com/journals-rankings/medicine to look for its "Rank" and "Impact" scores, but the journal was not found. The search is limited to the top 2,000 journals. With more searching, I found
https://www.resurchify.com/impact/details/19700174911 and the journal is ranked at 17,073. Now, research.com and resurchify.com don't show the same journals with the same ranking, as the latter site has non-medical journals in their list, too.
The reason I was interested in the journal's ranking is because some journals will allow authors to buy publication simply by paying "...publishing, processing or other author fees" and will guarantee publication "...before a manuscript
is even seen." (Taken from
https://www.proof-reading-service.com/en/blog/list-pay-publish-journals.) That may not be the case for the above article, but it's something I still have to consider.
Next, I reviewed Dr. Frank's Oklahoma medical license, his Texas medical license, and his website:
https://www.okmedicalboard.org/searchhttps://profile.tmb.state.tx.ushttps://re-genesishealth.comBoth state medical boards show a clear license for Dr. Frank with no disciplinary action. Obviously, this is good.
Dr. Frank's website shows him to specialize in Integrative Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine, Anesthesiology/Pain Medicine, Medical Acupuncture, Laser and Micro-Current Therapies, Biomagnetic Pair Therapy/Advanced BioEnergetics, MicroBioEnergetic Therapies, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Bio-Medicine, Auricular Therapy, Auricular Medicine, Prolotherapy, and Neural Therapy. His website also notes "His latest certifications are with Dr. Isaac Goiz's Biomagnetic Pair and Advanced BioEnergetics Therapies."
So, overall, this doesn't get us any closer to an answer, but I figured I'd share what I went through.
Personally, I have trouble understanding how Biomagnetic Pair Therapy is supposed to work. I've read several explanations on different websites, but I've not yet had an "Ah-ha!" moment. Of course, that doesn't mean anything, because I'm just one person and I'm probably not smart enough to understand it.
Ultimately, if someone goes through Biomagnetic Pair Therapy and they recover or even just slightly improve, then I'd say the treatment is worthwhile. I'll take any improvement, even if it's a placebo. As the saying goes: "A placebo effect is still an effect."
