Any ideas for pain relief??

Things has been going quite well as far as feeling good goes but the last few days my neck and top of back is killing me!

I have been coiling with my new doug coil machine and it is definitely working.  I love it.  I've been coiling for lyme and parasites both.    Yesterday and today I realize that I might not have detoxed enough and I might be herxing!!  I feel like the flu, have a killer headache, tight dizzy head with ears popping and that awful awful pain in the back of my neck!!  the head feels like it is swelling inside! 

So today I figured I better do some serious detoxing.  I took burbur, drank lots water (forgot lemon tho), did a coffee enema, soaked in epsom salt bathtub (but forgot to drybrush) and am drinking a cup of Dandy Blend (my dandelion coffee that is supposed to be good for detox)

What am I missing???  I still feel so bad!  Does anyone have any ideas of something I can take to minimize this herx?  Something that might work rather quickly????

 Also does anyone know what I could do to help my eyeballs?  They are dry and the eyeballs always hurt even when I feel good they hurt.  I dont know why.  the llmd doesnt even know why my eyes would hurt.  any ideas?

Jess1ca318 is using a product for the eyes....u would have to ask her though cause i cant remember what she said she was using.....and i have a prescription for pain management so i really dont know how to help with the pain....sorry that you are having a hard time....

Lately I've been getting terrible headaches and neck and shoulder pain/tension, and the only thing that's really helped is sort of massaging/stretching out those muscles. Also yoga has helped, if that's something you're feeling up to. Ginger is also good for pain, either in tea or a bath. Sorry to hear you're feeling so crummy :(

Hi scorp!

Goodness haven't you been working hard for your recovery! Well done! You deserve your very own cheerleading squad for that kind of effort.

That neck and shoulder pain is so difficult to tolerate. Do you have access to a hot tub/therapy pool? The beating of the jets and the moist heat really helps. A moist towel over a heating pad can help, too. Any chance of a massage? Even a bit of a rub from a total amateur can help you loosen up.

And don't withhold pain medication -- there is no extra prize for not taking them! I know I tend to "save" them for something serious, but pain is serious, it can start a whole downward trend in your mind and spirit.

And make sure you are getting some good rest. Kinda hard at this time of year, but it is very important.

Sooooo glad yesterday is over!!  I just can't believe all that was a herx but I guess it was.  The neuro herxes are definitely worse for me and I better take it slower or I might be whining alot.

I will have to ask Jessica what she is doing for the eyes. Normally it is painful but doesn't stop me from doing anything.  When it is coupled with a bad herx, then it becomes unbearable all over and then the eyes make the head even worse.

I guess alot of lyme people seem to have that neck/shoulder thing.  I had it before too but the pain of it was just amplified with that herx.  I used to enjoy 'beginners' yoga when I went to the gym.   I even did it at home on my yoga mat with my Wii system.  Now I am soooo not motivated even tho physically I am up for it.  I seem to be way too fidgety and preoccupied to be that relaxed.  Did that make sense?  I just never feel that calm anymore.
What kind of ginger?  Like a spice?

Yes I am trying to work hard at this recovery but I can see it is going to be a little more drawn out than I had hoped. 
I do not have access to a hot tub but I certainly have access to a masseuse.  My sister is one!  Duh!!  I totally forgot all about that and I could have used her yesterday for sure!!  altho I must say that she is not very generous with her massages!  no freebies there!

I actually did take some ibuprofens but I guess I needed the strong stuff. They were left over from the ER months back. I dont know why I was saving them. Probably because I am about as sharp as a bowling ball these days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, today is much better and I sure have learned a valuable lesson...Do what the mods keep saying...DETOX DETOX DETOX regularly.

I used my infrared sauna day before yesterday and I'm herxing from that. Not feeling good today...ugh

I use extra strenghth excedrin when I have pain. That works the best for me. I too get the shoulder/neck pain. I also get eye pain when I'm herxing. Feels like someone is taking one of my eyeballs and twisting it in my head. Ouch!

Carrie, remember I haven't had the coil machine for long so began just how  he instructed me to begin. 
I coiled lyme 432 for 30 seconds then increased either 30 sec/1 min every other day but depending on the herx.  Well alot depends on how sick a person is so one size wont fit all. 

 I wasn't that sick and didn't herx.  So I did it daily and am up to 5 min abdomen with minimal herx if any.  My main issues are neuro soooooo, I began coiling head and neck area also.   I herxed so I know I am killing stuff now! He said to eventually work up to 28 minutes all over with 5 being on the abdomen and the other areas on 3 minutes each so the entire body gets coiled.  But to slowly work up to it.

Oh and I also did 727 and 880 on different days.  They are used for parasites and a variety of other things.  They are good frequencies for me to use.  Apparently they hit on something I am dealing with.  Parasites?  Well that is another story but I believe wholeheartedly that I must get rid of them before I will heal from lyme and co and the frequencies for parasites WORK!  Amazing.  Even better than para cleanse that I have been taking. (then follow with coffee enema  lol)


 I did about 5 min on different areas of head and neck and then I slid it down over eyes as well because I know I have lyme etc in my eyes.  Perhaps my eyes were herxing, I dont know.  But today I am feeling goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood.

On a side note, this coil isnt just for lyme and co.  My husband's shoulder was hurting him so bad for a few days and one day it got so bad he couldnt stand it.  It might have been a herx for him because he was also taking herbals but I coiled him for misc/arthritis, using 787.  That is supposedly another misc widely affective freq.  45 minutes later he tells me that his shoulder feels 80% better and now he loves this coil machine!

The freq I used so far were all what the guy who made the machine told me.  But he also said to get them on CAFL site and see what works.  there are many for lyme so find whatever works.  Apparently 432 is widely successful for a variety of lyme strains.

Also, you know that if a person is on abx and it goes in cyst form then the coil can't get to the cyst.  It must come out of cysts first.

Btw, I am not doing bart yet but when I do, he says to do it daily as it multiplies rapidly.

so far so good.  Now I must remember detox regular so it doesnt get backed up!

I still put off that sauna purchase because we are getting house painted and they wont finish til Monday now.  they are off on hunting vacation this week.  geesh!  House is a mess.  So after they are done.  I can have it delivered.  I am getting the sauna from evolution health and that is where I am also getting the vita mix for my healthy green smoothies!  May as well treat myself to some early Christmas presents! yeah

And now it is laundry time.  rolleyes

Eye pain can be associated with a Bartonella infection for most, although Lyme causes so many symptoms itself!!

If your eyes might be dry, try using 'lubricating' eye drops.

Scorp: Can you tell me the frequencies for the parasites please. I think I'll try it. Also, where do you hold the coil and for how long. My husband and family run when I start the coil machine. ha ha They are really scared of it... My dog (Lucy...a crapzu) only runs when I run certain frequencies...

It's kind of funny....if I want some time along, I just start up my coil!

Anyway, let me know on the parasite frequencies if you don't mind and I'm so glad you are feeling so good!!

Dry eyes may be a symptom of Vitamin A deficiency... wish more eye doctors knew that one...

Anyway, I too have dry eyes...mostly from allergy issues but suspect Lyme/Bart and possibly autoimmune issues as well. I find using Optique 1 eye drops as needed is more effective for me than any other eye drop I've ever tried for dry eye. It is homeopathic, and contains no drug or preservative ingredients to cause me more trouble...

I get my Optique 1 eye drops from http://www.supersup.com/ (I have no financial connections with the company that makes Optique 1 or this website or any of the products sold on it)...

For pain, I use Nettle leaf powder (great for joint pain/arthritis), homeopathic Arnica (for any kind of pain), and homeopathic Causticum (for Lyme-related leg pain). I can't do the pain meds due to allergies to NSAIDs, aspirin, tylenol, and rx pain meds give me serious side-effects or don't do anything at all.

I'm considering getting a Doug Coil machine, so it is good to know the machine doesn't get at the cyst form of Lyme. Thanks!

For the neck and shoulder pain, have you tried arnica cream? It is a wonderful cream that I have used for flank pain, joint pain, neck tightness and it really is amazing. My sister just indicated to me that it is made in France and they apparently use it for everything. She had taken a fall and landed on her face and that is what they gave her at the drug store and she said it helped tremendously.

Razzle, that sure is interesting to know of the vit A deficiency resulting in dry eyes.  I will look into that.  I have had dry eyes for a very long time.  Way before lyme.  One time I asked my eye dr what I can do for dry eyes and she suggested...now get this...BLINK MORE OFTEN!! rolleyes

But it is since I have lyme that even tho they are dry, they actually hurt now.  Sometimes it is constant squeezing feeling or just plain bruised feeling on the top.

I am going to try the Optique drops you suggested and I am copying the other homeopathic things you suggested.  I already take some homeopathy stuff so I like that idea.

And Razzle, if you do get a doug coil they say not to take abx at the same time because of chasing them into cyst form.  You would need a cyst breaker then go in and coil to kill.  The coil can get anywhere in the body tho.  Especially good for me as I have neuro lyme.  I coiled last night on the head and today I am having some head/eye herxes. 

springsjean, do you know where to get the arnica cream?  maybe I'll check with a pharmacist.

If inflammation is causing your pain, the herb turmeric has been known for a long time to help reduce inflammation - although I don't know if it reacts with any meds - It's easy enough to check though.

I'm using a turmeric tincture that has worked wonders for me!! I have only moderate joint pain now!!

It doesn't do the job for my hands though, I have a lot of arthritic type of damage in them and I use an Arnica tincture (thanks to Razzle's suggestion) and it really works well for my hands - I have to rub some into my hands three times each evening I use it, but it beats anything else I've tried! And since I am now milking a goat - I guess that is a pretty good statement as to it's effectiveness for some at least! smilewinkgrin

Arnica cream/gel can be purchased over-the-counter at health food stores and even some grocery or drug stores. Be sure to get one that does NOT have menthol or other herbs in it, as these ingredients de-activate the homeopathic arnica. I personally prefer Boiron's Arnica Gel, but if I can't get that one, I can use Boericke & Tafel's Arniflora.

Also, I personally find that topical homeopathic products (such as arnica gel) work better when also taking the same homeopathic remedy internally (as pellets or tincture).

Homeopathic products can usually be used as often as needed - up to every 5 minutes for the pellets/tincture, and probably every hour or two for topical stuff - because there is little risk of overdose. If you do think you've overdosed on homeopathy, drink a cup of strong coffee or mint tea...the coffee and mint contain substances that de-activate homeopathy.

If you can't find homeopathic products locally, the two best places online from which to purchase homeopathic products that I've found are http://www.supersup.com/ and http://abchomeopathy.com/ - I have no financial connections, am simply a very satisfied customer...

Thanks for the info on the coil. Right now, I'm getting my butt kicked pretty good by Flagyl (and I'm not even at the full dose my doctor wants me to be - been increasing the dose slowly over the past few months, with herxes each time I increase the dose), so I know I'm not ready for the coil machine yet.

I have been battling chronic Lyme for several years and have slowly been improving I was undiagnosed for over ten years prior to that. I would like to encourage you to keep trying different pain management techniques until you find what works best for you. It seems like each person is different and also that Lymes symptoms change.

Some ideas I can give you to look into are: adding organic unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to your detox bath, malic acid supplements (detox helper/ingredient in ACV), DHEA supplement, MSM, B12 shots (high doses of B12 are anti-inflammatory).

I have used B12 with procain injections that were prescribed by my doctor which helped with the worst pain. I have had periods of taking a lot of ibuprofen which isn't supposed to be healthy but enabled me to function. Heat whether a hot tub, bath, heating pad, or electric blanket are favorite comfort measures of mine.

I'm sorry I don't have more concrete advice but I felt the possibility of any of these things helping you made it worthwhile posting.

I have been having a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders as well, and I find that Tylenol Extra Strength takes all of the pain away very quickly. I survived on this back when I got Mono this past summer. I had been prescribed Vicodin and that did nothing - but the Tylenol worked great. Not sure how it would mix with your current meds though.

I also have a Tens unit that I use from time to time to relax my muscles. Or maybe try a heating pad.

thanks for all the great ideas! Some days are so much worse than others while some are very manageable. Today is another decent day! My favorite is heat and it usually helps but not when my pain was so intense but it still felt good. Tylenol works til a point. I think a combination of stuff ended up working.
I also found a frequency on my coil machine that seemed to take the edge off.

this lyme business all seems like an experiment. I'm just glad there are places where we can all share info.

What is the CAFL website please? I have a Doug Coil, using it for Lyme, but having horrible hip pain, wanted to see if there was a frequency for that? TIA

another possibility is a TENS device

they use electrical signals to numb pain

can be used for localised pain

eg used by pregnant women for back pain
