Hi michael,
I have autoimmune neuropathy, so i know your pain well. I'm convinced small fiber neuropathy is the most painful disease known to mankind. As you pointed out, it will make one contemplate suicide. And it is not taken seriously in the medical community. It absolutely baffles my mind.
As garzie pointed out, Disulfiram toxicity tends to be toxic/metabolic in nature, and there are some b-vitamins which are necessary for healing the nerves. I'd recommend high doses of benfothiamine (upwards of 1000mg/day) and b12 injections. In addition, high dose biotin has been shown to help nerve regeneration.
In addition, and I cant pound the table on this hard enough, but please look into ARA-290. It's a peptide that has been shown to reduce inflammation on the nerve root and induce nerve growth through activation of the Innate Repair Mechanism. It works termendously for me, but I've noticed only about
50% of people I've gotten on it respond, but for those who do respond it is a godsend. You can buy it from peptide sciences.
https://www.peptidesciences.com/blog/ara-290-neuroinflammation-innate-repairThere are also some drugs in the pipeline for regenerating nerves. Look into Winsantor's product topical Pirenzepine, which is proven to reverse nerve damage (both Winsantor and Dr Jonah Chan's lab at UCSF showed M1 receptor antagoism can do this). I've ordered the powder from china and turned it into a microemulsion, about
a week into treatment with it. Should take about
3-6m to see real results.
There are other drugs in the pipeline as well. HDAC6 inhibitors, etc. So there is hope, nothing has to be permanent w/ the speed at which technology is advancing
Finally, and I mention this not to scare you, but it's worth considering...in some instances I've seen disulfiram trigger an autoimmune neuropathy. There seems to be some mechanism by which damage to the nerves elicits a response from the white blood cells whereby the nerve becomes an antigenetic target. If you are not getting better 1y after stopping disulfiram, it would be time to consider this as a possibility, but i would not focus on that this early in the game. I'm so sad seeing people mess themselves up w/ disulfiram because some LLMD put them on it, it's nuts.
