In Europe ivermectin is standard protocol for Lyme.
i don't think this is necessarily true
there are some LLMD's using it, mainly based on the belief that lyme is theorised to potentially live inside and be protected by nematode worms inside the human host - based on work on nematodes by Eva Sapi - but this is theoretical and not mainstream in the LLMD community.
There are also some references to LLMDs believing the immunomodulatory effects of ivermectin can be helpful in chronic lyme - there is scientific evidence for immunomodulator effects of ivermectin in the scientific literature - but not specifically for lyme disease - and the evidence supporting its use in lyme for this purpose is anecdotal based on a comments by LLMD's - and information is very sparse ( if you have sources please do share them )
however, as far as i am aware, there is no evidence that ivermectin is directly active as an antimicrobial for borrelia(lyme) ( again if you know of any studies please do share them)
fortunately, we do not have to guess which antibiotics ARE active for lyme as most antibiotics have been tested against borrelia and there is a substantial body of knowledge to draw on here.
as well as the articles in scientific journals - many respected LLMD's publish protocols which are based on this evidence and backed up by their clinical experience eg
- Horowitz in his books - "How can i get better"
- Dr MR on his website https://www.treatlyme.net/
- Dr SP in his book - Chronic
- Dr J in his presentations to ILADS and AONM etc
I just wanted to highlight that there are plenty of tried and tested protocols out there from respected sources - which are likely to be more successful than an ad hoc approach
