Sandoz methylPrednisone usp 4mg for vitaligo,..risky??

I turned this down in 2014 since its a tablet steroid and my lyme was out of control.

I wonder how risky this would be today.

Supposedly these (Pack) steroids that are for only a couple weeks are not that bad. But its still labeled with the possible risks on the website.

I have to guarantee that my tick infections are completely gone (no reliable tests....none of us will ever know).

as you say - we don't know when / if the infections are gone - (or even so far - in the current medical knowledge, if its possible to eradicate them at all).

in general i think i would apply the precautionary principal

to go deeper into trying to evaluate it, one could try to do a risk vs benefit equation

what are all the risks vs what are the potential benefits - and then try to weigh them against each other
i would do this on paper - and find it often helps make a decision i feel good about

the kind of factors i would want to incorporate are things like

in trying to evaluate the risks - what we generally term as risk - really has 2 parts
1, probability of an adverse event happening
2, the severity of the consequences of that thing happening

so in terms of probability of risks i would consider things like
- the more odd symptoms a person has - eg pains, musculoskeletal issues, skin issues etc etc - the more wary i would be - as i think that could be interpreted to indicate there is more likelihood of some kind of ongoing residual infection

- the more issues i had with my immune system already ( since cortico-steroids suppress immune function ) the greater the risk one would tend to associate with suppressing it further

- dose - vs risk

- duration vs risk

in terms of severity or risks
-what would the life impact be likely to be
-how long would that be expected to last

on the benefit side of the equation - similarly benefits have both probabilities and magnitude
- what is the probability of the outcome i want happening
- what would the positive outcome be - if the desired outcome were to happen

its worth noting that these kind of analyses are highly individual - because the way humans perceive risks is highly individualised - and there are inherent biases
for instance we often voluntarily undertake risks that are 100 to 1000x greater than those we would be comfortable with if imposed upon us ....
