Hi all-

I know this has been discussed in the past but does anyone else have Bart and foot pain?  I have pain on the bottoms of both feet in the heel and in the arches.  I was diagnosed w/ plantar fascitis years ago but I thought it went away.  Not my feet hurt all the time, a throbbing senstation and hurt a lot when I stand up for more than a few minutes and walking, where I have to sit down.  Has anyone gotten rid of their foot pain and can wear the shoes they want to (i.e. not have to wear orthotics and wear nice casual/dress shoes without pain?)

I have foot pain (and bart)The strange thing is it got better when I was treating for Lyme - using Ceftin and Biaxin - although I was using Buhner Bart herbs for a few months.

It came back when I took the 2 1/2 month treatment break.

Mine is the bottoms of both - and they just feel funny when I wake up in the morning when I'm walking - sort of stiff and sore...but mine gets better as the day goes on.

I never had to wear orthotics...and can still wear dress shoes (just don't wear the high heels anymore)

I had the pain starting in my achilles tendons. Thought it might be plantar fascitis but my doctor didn't think so. I was on naproxen for a while and after that it moved to the soles of my feet. Every time, i sat for more than an hour when I stood up it felt like all the skin had shrunk and I hobbled around for at least a half hour until everything stretched out.

I was just recently diagnosed with Lyme, Bart and Babs.

about a year ago, my doctor started me on Plaquenil for joint pain. A side effect was the sole pain completely went away. I don't know why this is since I thought Plaquenil would only work on Babesia since its antimalarial.

Any ideas?

So neither of you had foot pain on the soles that does not get better as the day goes on? That's constant, and is worse when standing and walking?

I also have pain in the soles of my feet when I first get up in the mornings, but in a few minutes it goes away. Sometimes I get random pains in my feet or toes during the day but it's usually fleeting.

I'll have this sometimes. It's not constant, thankfully. Though, who knows when that'll change?

I don't know if it's Bartonella, but, while you didn't ask, I'll also get petechiae on the tops of my feet. Though, I've found that they go away, after using a mixture of doTerra's OnGuard and oil of oregano. It could just be a coincidence, but I'm tempted to think its disappearance is due to them, 'cause it's happened a few different times now. I wish the oils took care of the rest of the crap though.

But, yes, these symptoms, as well as my seemingly swollen lymph, pains in the lymph at times, and the neuro issues, which I was told get worsened when coupled with Lyme, they make me think Bart could be a problem for me.

One complication in my making a "yes, it's Bart" conclusion, the petechiae. I've seen some say it's Babs, some say it's Bart. I don't feel like I have many Babs symptoms, not that are very pronounced anyway, but maybe a few.

Though, again, yes, I'll have the traveling foot pains. Never constant. I've also had very sore, aching shins, at times. Less frequency than the foot pains though.

Antonio - foot pain and shin pain are classic signs of Bart.

That's what I figured, as I've got some of the most common symptoms. Thanks for confirming it, guys. Though, yeah, Mike, with my luck, I've got the 3 big ones and more.

Wow, this thread is really interesting to me right now. I saw my LLMD yesterday, and after treating Lyme for about a year and a half, I finally convinced him to treat me for bart. He never did before, because I didn't have foot pain. The thing that made me think bart was that when I started taking A-L Complex, I started having shin pain as a herx. I have quite a bit of petechiae, which I always attributed to bab. I couldn't understand why that was the only lingering bab symptom I have, so it's interesting to learn that could be from bart, as well. Of course, I have neuro symptoms and joint pain, which I had always attributed to Lyme, but now it seems likely that bart is a significant factor there, too. I guess I'll find out once I start taking the A-Bart. I'm having a flare right now, so I want to wait until that is over before I start anything new and hopefully minimize the herx.

My feet used to hurt so bad the pain from them would combine and radiate up my leg so that it went all the way to half way up my thigh and I couldn't force myself to be on my feet for more than 7 minutes - I got so frustrated with it, I started timing it!! But, I have healed and have never had that kind of pain again - fortunately.

You can check symptom lists, the good ones will tell you that Lyme can cause some foot pain (although it's slightly different than Bart foot pain). When Lyme and Bart combine, the pain can be excruciating.

Ok thanks Trav! I thiiiink I still have plantar fascitis as the plantar fascia on both my feet are thickened and crunchy when i press against it...did anyone else have this? I just want to get better and be healthy and get back to the gym full time, etc.

Traveler hit the nail on the head. As I was reading the responses, I realized I have two different types of foot pain. That be where my confusion comes from regarding whether it can be attributed to Bart or Babs.

One kind is exactly as Traveler described. If I am on my feet too long, I get serious pain in my feet. If I continue to stand or walk, it radiates up my calves and in extreme cases to my thighs. That is manageable by constantly moving between walking, sitting and standing when possible. How long is "too long"? Depends on what you are doing.

The other is different. It is only the soles of my feet. It is excruciating for about 10-20 minutes after having been off my feet. First thing in the morning is worse. It really does feel like the skin all shrunk and it takes time to stretch out.

Which pain is attributed to which? I've never heard of petechiae in the feet. What does it look like?

So I also have nerve pain that radiates up from my feet up to my thighes...is that Bart or Babs? I also can't stand on my feet for more than a few minutes, it hurts like hellll...Bart or Babs? It hurts when I walk all the time...Bart or Babs? I have a hard time distinguishing both.

Dave - my best guess is that the nerve pain radiating up from feet to thighs is Bart.

I’m so sorry at least they diagnosed it. Please treat this before your life is ruined by it like mine. I have no quality of life and miss all events and appointments.
Drs aren’t prescribing opioids which is horrible
I actually will have to lie and go to a methadone to try and manage I have two kids.
I got diagnosed in 2019 with Babesia. PCR
But I always had this horrendous foot pain.
They kept suppressing my immune system because they thought it was lupus
I continued to cover it up with pain meds and steroids
It got so bad I was just screaming and weeping at night
Now I found out through igenex I have bartonella Babesia and erichilosis (mild Erich.)
I had a hunch of bartonella when I saw on Google it can cause shin and bone pain.
I must have gone to the er 20 times from the pain. And they never figured it out

I am going to do if vit c and glutathione
I’ll let you know if it works I had two so far nothing.
But I’m on azithromyacin and atovaquone.
I asked for it anyway because I feel like the functional med dr is just trying to make money.
He prescribed me no antibiotics but he said the high dose c acts as an antimicrobial

Omg. I have Borreliosis, Babesiosis and Bartoneliosis, w/ VERY HIGH titers, the former two from tick, the latter from a wild cat that scratched me, and I can say that the Bart top of feet and shin pain is unbearable. It's like aching growing pains 100 fold.

It's impossible to even sleep w/ the pain but it fluctuates, fortunately. When I do something strenuous the pain increases due to breaking muscle fibers, and probably Bart eat this up.

The ONLY thing that ridded of all this BART pain was mixing Zithromax and Clarihromycin, both Macrolide antibiotics. However, I did this accidentally for two weeks when I wasn't suppose to as both increase Q-interval and should NOT be taken together (though I was fine).

Basically it cured the pain, so I know now that the pain is likely of an infectious etiology. I also would sweat upon touch, such as on feet and shins, that also went away while taking these together.

I had to stop, obviously. And it all came back. It's been three years since and I'm still sick.

It moves around for me. It usually is in the crevices of the tendons of top of feet but also soles, achilles tendon and lower shins, sometimes traveling up to thighs.
