Feeling desperate - nothing working for MRSA

I was going to suggest IV abx but you already mentioned that.
My dad had it and when they gave him IV abx - it cleared it very quickly

maybe step up to propolis , oil of oregano and even bee venom before vanco. i made a germicidal light once from threads here using fiber optic cable and germicidal bulb work for my gums ...keep us posted

i guess it could be any bacterium - or even more likely a mix of bacterium ( chronic infections typically involve more than one )

the other thing that is worth considering is that all chronic infections - and especially wound type infections ( which this sounds like it approximates ) are hard to treat because of biofilms that form - which prevent the immune system getting at the bacteria

Dr J - the lyme doctor - took his chosen anti-biofilm agents from colleagues using them in infected abx resistant burns and wounds - which sound analogous to what you are dealing with
these were topical application of xylitol and lactoferrin - along with topical and i think systemic antibiotics
so these biofilm agents are worth a try combined with your chosen most effective antimicrobial

oregano oil and carvacrol have been tested in vitro and in cell culture - so are active topically
but are also, like many essential oils, somewhat aggressive / caustic to human tissue in high concentrations - so you would have to experiment with carrier oils and concentrations - its similar in strength to tea tree oil i think

however, if the infection is in a place that is likely to get into the bloodstream or cause sepsis or other life threatening complications would defo consider going the IV ABX route sooner rather than later - better safe than sorry
to do this effectively i think the wound would need to be cultured and the response to the chosen agent tested.
culture will take time - so i would start making the steps in that direction now - rather than wait and experiment with what is showing all signs of being unresponsive so far

Maybe bacteriophages? There was a site where you could order them but I don't remember it. Anyone knows what I'm talking about? I think it was mentioned here somewhere.

My child had a MRSA infection for eight months (confirmed with cultures). I thought I was going to lose my mind. The body does an impressive job isolating infections in the skin usually, so the systemic antibiotics we tried did nothing (except stain her teeth, help us discover medication allergies, and disrupt her gut). We tried dozens of things, including bleach baths, topical prescription antibiotics, manuka honey, tea tree oil, and hot compresses.

Ultimately what helped was keeping the area as dry as possible. We would use just enough coconut oil on the area to keep the skin from being overly dried out, once per day, dab it as dry as possible with a cloth, and then apply cornstarch. We also kept the area exposed to the air as much as possible. We did endless laundry on the sanitize setting and bleached the toilet after every single use (the infection was on her bum).

It was very stubborn and scary.

Like others, I am curious why your doctors have not cultured the infection.

if alcohol from tinctures is an issue

its relatively easy to remove that by placing the tinctures in a glass on a small "reptile warming mat" from amazon

Buhner basically says consuming some alcohol is natural and not to worry about it and quotes the significant alcohol content in bread and ripe fruits - which is all true.

but if you work out how much you would be taking if you follow the extended protocol in his 2nd edition healing lyme book – it is equivalent to around 3 double whiskeys a day - and that's clearly too much to be healthy long term - plus I would be half soaked all of the time - and above the legal blood alcohol limit to drive!

many people here are also avoiding or at least minimising alcohol

to minimise how much i consume - i basically dose out my next portion into a glass tumbler right after i take one - and place it on a small reptile heating mat - this warms the glass to around body temperature for a few hours until the next dose is due - and the majority of the alcohol evaporates by the time i come to take the next dose

i am taking a lot of tinctures - and can taste there is basically zero alcohol in the overnight batch - and only a v small amount in the ones that have stood only 4-5hrs on the mat

in case its of any additional help to you

i recently wanted to try tinidazole as part of a pulsed antibiotic protocol - and alcohol can cause an adverse dapsone-like reaction with tinidazole - an as a result its contraindicated -

so to be on the safe side i mixed 2 batches ahead so all tinctures gat at least 10hrs on the warming mat - and that resulted in basically zero alcohol and no issue at all with tinidazole

nope -

the alcohol (and the water to a lesser degree) is the solvent to get the active constituents out of the plant material so you can ingest it without all the plant fibre - and without your digestive system having to do the work of getting them out of the plant fibre and unbroken cells - something its not great at.

once the active constituents are in the tincture - you can evaporate the alcohol and just ingest the active constituents without loss of potency - this is basically how many supplements are made.

the alcohol is easily absorbed early in the digestive tract and the active constituents generally much more slowly / further down - so the one does not carry the other as such

if you are still struggling - the cryptolepine ( the main alkaloid compound in Cryptolepis root) is reasonably soluble in hot acidic water - so Cryptolepis root can be taken as a tea - if made with acidic water - eg 15ml of apple cider vinegar or lemon joule per cup.
its best to grind it fairly fine - eg at least as fine as typical tea leaves - and brew it very long - eg over night
(note: it tastes very earthy!)

yep - good question - but luckily herbs are generally much less sensitive than lizards

the mats come either just constant temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius - or with a little dial allowing control of anything from room temp to 40 degrees Celsius -

max setting is fine - herbs are typically dried at up to 40 deg C and will have been shipped around the world in shipping containers at up to 70+ degrees Celsius

If one can tolerate them, Buhner discusses using herbs in powdered form and mixing them in pomegranate juice. I plan to experiment (very randomly) with making liposomal tinctures. Perhaps the emulsion will minimize the alcohol? No idea I am not a chemist.

Update: unfortunately taking the Cryptolepis with the alcohol evaporated has absolutely no effect against this infection. I feel as ill as I did the day I came down with it last. Going to go back to having the alcohol, add in as many anti-inflammatory/immunomodulatory herbs as I can get my hands on, and pray that the ensuing RA flare is manageable.
