Intravenous Vitamin C

Several years ago, not long after my tick bite, I had a few round of IV Vitamin C at 50,000 mg each. They did nothing for me, personally.

I think if Vitamin C were really such a panacea, it would be curing every incidence of Lyme, Cancer, and numerous other conditions. But, of course, this is not the case.

Regrettably, out of desperation, I've fallen for many of the claims perpetuated by the people who run GreenMedInfo and those whom they feature.

i am sure it has some benefit in terms of antioxidant effects - as vitamin C is often heavily depleted in fatiguing inflammatory illnesses - but i don't think there is any high quality evidence that it can cure Lyme as a primary treatment

my guess is its a known safe IV treatment that has just enough science around it that can be spun into a hopeful treatment - and a suitable price tag attached - but if it was really effective as a treatment - as Dude says - we would see all the top LLMDs use it as exactly that

so if one can afford it and feel they may benefit from the anti-oxidant effects then perhaps it makes sense - but i would be wary of relying on it as an actual treatment for lyme.

For many years in the past, Vitamin C IVs appeared to cause Herx reactions for me. We assumed die-off, as I always felt much better afterwards. Like with most things, this effect eventually stopped for me.

I also found it helpful sometimes when my fatigue was severe as naturopaths will tell you that adrenals need a lot of Vitamin C for nourishment. And battling tick-borne diseases can really stress your adrenal glands.

Lyme also depletes the body of collagen, which is one of its favourite foods. For this reason, it can be good to replenish Vitamin C supply. For citations, see Stephen Buhner's books.
