Derek,
Herbs work best in synergy with other herbs. That’s how Buhner developed his protocols. I don’t recommend trying to treat with a single herb, but I do recommend only adding one antimicrobial herb at a time.
The 3 herbs most frequently used for babesia are artemisia, cryptolepis, and Sida acuta. I have used all 3 and had different responses to each. Everyone is different, so some people notice nothing with one and get hit hard by another.
My memory is fading, but I believe Buhner seemed to believe Sida acuta was more effective. Sida acuta is also in his bartonella protocol. I found Sida acuta to be herx provoking.
Keep in mind that artemisia and cryptolepis are used for many other infections and are usually part of herbal parasite treatments. Sida acuta is not a commonly used herb, as far as I know, but Buhner recommended it.
Bidens pilosa was also in Buhner’s babesia protocol. I used it extensively and felt instinctively like it was a good herb and useful, but I didn’t feel noticeable effects from it.
